What Is the Purpose of the Land Rover Owners Club of Victoria?
Updated
The Land Rover Owners Club of Victoria (LROCV) exists to promote and represent the interests of Land Rover owners and drivers, encourage four-wheel-drive touring, run training and social events, cooperate with government and land management bodies, and preserve the Land Rover marque. It is the longest established four-wheel-drive club in Australia, formed on Friday 13 September 1963, and currently has approximately 650 members.
The club's stated purposes
The LROCV's Statement of Purpose sets out six objectives:
- Represent owners and drivers — promote and represent the interests of people who own and drive vehicles made by Land Rover.
- Support four-wheel-drive touring — promote, represent, encourage and support the recreation of four-wheel-drive touring.
- Run training and events — pursue and conduct training programs, projects and social events that benefit four-wheel-drive touring and the club's activities generally.
- Work with similar organisations — cooperate with or assist any organisation with similar objectives, in any way that furthers the interest of four-wheel-drive touring.
- Engage with authorities — cooperate with and assist relevant levels of government, land management authorities and community organisations for the benefit of four-wheel-drive touring.
- Preserve the marque — keep the Land Rover name and heritage alive.
Who the club represents
The purposes centre on Land Rover owners and drivers specifically, while the touring, training and land-access work extends to the broader four-wheel-drive community. The club's history reflects this dual focus: it began as an Overseas Branch of the Land Rover Owners' Club of England, and independent branches now exist in every Australian state.
How the purposes show up in practice
The website lists the activities that carry out these aims, including club events, driver training, trip classification and trip information, registers and special interest groups, a club permit scheme, club rules, and the Victorian 4WD Show. These sit alongside the monthly club meetings and social media channels.

Club meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month except January, at 7.30pm, at the Village Green Hotel in the "Copper Fox" room, corner of Ferntree Gully Road and Springvale Road, Mulgrave (Melways 71 B9).
