What is This Person Does Not Exist (thispersonnotexist.org)?

Updated

This Person Does Not Exist (thispersonnotexist.org) is a free online random AI face generator. Every face it shows is created by StyleGAN3, so the people in the photos do not exist. You get 8 faces per click at 1024x1024 HD, with no signup required. It is worth using if you need realistic-looking faces for mockups, avatars, or design work and want to avoid model releases or licensing fees. It is not a tool for finding or verifying real people.

What the site actually does

The site generates synthetic human faces on demand. Each result is a realistic image, but no real person is depicted. According to the site, every face comes from StyleGAN3, and downloads are free with no signup.

Key facts from the site:

  • 8 faces per click at 1024x1024 HD
  • Free downloads, no account needed
  • Online only — nothing to install, and it works the same on a phone
  • No daily cap and no queue — hit Reload for 8 new faces

The four generation modes

The site organizes output into four tabs, which map to the most common requests:

Tab What you get
Random Face A mix of men and women
Male 8 photos of a man who does not exist
Female 8 photos of a woman who does not exist
Full Body 4 standing people instead of head shots

If you need whole characters rather than portraits, the Full Body option is the relevant one. The site notes that its full body page has more of them.

Filtering by race, age, and emotion

Three dropdowns sit above the photos — a feature the site points out that most face generators skip:

  • Race: Asian, White, Latino Hispanic, Middle Eastern, Indian, Black
  • Age: 1-21, 21-35, 35-50, 50+
  • Emotion: happy or neutral

Change any dropdown and the 8 photos reload immediately. So you can request, for example, an Indian face, a happy Asian face, or a Black face aged 21 to 35.

How to generate a face in 3 steps

  1. Pick a tab: Random Face, Female, Male, or Full Body.
  2. Set race, age, or emotion if you want a closer match.
  3. Click a photo, then save it at 512x512 or full HD. Hit Reload for 8 new faces.

Where you can use these photos

Because the images are AI-generated and depict no real person, there is no model to pay and no release to sign. The site suggests using them as profile pictures or avatars, and designers can drop them into website mockups. That makes the tool a practical fit for placeholder imagery, concept work, and any context where using a real person's likeness would be a problem.

When it is the right choice

Use thispersonnotexist.org if you:

  • Need realistic faces quickly and free of charge
  • Want to avoid licensing or model-release complications
  • Are building mockups, avatars, or design comps
  • Want to filter results by race, age, or emotion

Look elsewhere if you need images of real, identifiable people, or if you need a guaranteed consistent character across many images — the generator produces new faces on each reload rather than a fixed identity.
