What is Top Five Advisor (t5a.com)?

Updated

Top Five Advisor (t5a.com) is a review and ranking site for internet products, services, and software, run by owner, editor, and writer Scott Buehler. It is most useful if you want a curated "top five" shortlist of hosting providers, WordPress tools, VPNs, or similar products, plus practical WordPress how-to guides, rather than a general news or shopping site.

What the site covers

The site organizes its content into review sections and guides. Based on the homepage, the main areas are:

  • Web hosting – hosting recommendations, including a featured InMotion Hosting review and a "Best Web Hosting Guide."
  • VPS hosting – listed among the review sections.
  • WordPress guides – tutorials such as backing up a WordPress site, cleaning up and optimizing WordPress, editing or deleting an image gallery, handling comment spam, and beginner mistakes.
  • VPN services – a "Top VPN Service" section, including a guide on Wi-Fi hotspot risks and how a VPN helps.
  • Software and other internet services – covered through the site's top-five ranking format.

The recurring format is a ranked list of five options in a category, which is where the name "Top Five Advisor" comes from.

Who runs it

The homepage identifies Scott Buehler as the owner, editor, and writer. That means the reviews and guides are largely produced by one person rather than a large editorial team, which is worth keeping in mind when weighing how much weight to give any single recommendation.

How to use the site

  1. Pick your category – hosting, VPS, WordPress, VPN, or software.
  2. Read the top-five list for that category to get a shortlist of candidates.
  3. Open the individual review for any product you're considering, since the lists link to fuller reviews (for example, the InMotion Hosting review).
  4. Use the WordPress guides if you already run a site and want step-by-step help with maintenance tasks like backups or cleanup.

The site also mentions an exclusive discount arrangement with InMotion Hosting, activated by clicking a specific button on their site rather than through a coupon code. Treat that as a promotional offer tied to the site's recommendation, not an independent endorsement.

What it is not

Top Five Advisor is a review and tutorial site, not a store or a service provider itself. It doesn't sell hosting or software directly; it points you to third-party providers and explains how to use them. If you need to actually buy a product or sign up for a service, you'll do that on the provider's own site after reading the review here.
