What is topfax.net (Dingtone Fax)?

Updated

topfax.net is the website for Dingtone Fax, an Android fax app that lets you send and receive faxes from a smartphone instead of a fax machine. It fits people who need to fax documents occasionally or on the go — small business owners, salespeople, students — and who don't want to buy a machine, paper, ink toner, or a dedicated phone line. You need an Android device and a fax plan to use it; the site presents it as a paid app with multiple plans rather than a free service.

What the service does

The core idea, as the site puts it, is "Everyone Needs Fax, Not a Fax Machine!" — turn your phone into a fax machine with one app.

  • Send faxes from your phone, from anywhere, at any time.
  • Receive faxes without delay, with past faxes kept trackable.
  • Fax files in multiple formats, including documents like acknowledgements, authorizations, retirement paperwork, and confirmations.
  • Use fax cover sheet templates built into the app — the site says you select a template and fill it in, with no download needed.

Main features

Feature What it means for you
Send and receive Fax from your phone instead of a physical machine
File format support Handles several document types, not just one
Cover sheet templates Ready-made templates you fill in inside the app
Fax notifications Alerts so important incoming faxes aren't missed
Fax history Past faxes are stored and trackable
Multiple plans One account covers a dedicated fax number and ongoing fax needs

Who it's for

The site's own testimonials point to a few clear user types:

  • Small business owners who don't want a bulky fax machine.
  • Salespeople who work from a phone all day and rarely have access to a fax machine.
  • Students who need to fax school paperwork.
  • Anyone who needs to send sensitive files like invoices or contracts but doesn't always have a personal fax machine nearby.

Things to know before you start

  • It's Android-focused. The site describes it as one of the best fax apps for Android, so check device compatibility first.
  • Plans are paid. The site lists "multiple fax plans fit for all budgets" and mentions credits and a price per page in a user review, but the input doesn't state exact prices — check the app or site for current pricing.
  • One account, many faxes. A single purchase covers a dedicated fax number and your fax activity, according to the site.
  • Cover sheets are built in, which saves a step if you fax formal documents regularly.

If your main need is sending the occasional fax from a phone without owning a machine, Dingtone Fax is built for exactly that. If you need high-volume faxing or desktop integration, compare plan limits and page costs before committing.
