What Is US Chess Sales (uscfsales.com)?

Updated

US Chess Sales (uscfsales.com) is the official chess shop of the United States Chess Federation. It sells chess pieces, sets, boards, clocks, bags, boxes, books, software, and chess computers, and describes itself as North America's largest chess retailer. The site states that all purchases benefit US Chess. It is a place to buy chess equipment and software rather than a club, tournament, or rating service.

Who runs it and what that means for buyers

The storefront is branded as the official shop of the US Chess Federation, and its product mix reflects that tie: tournament-oriented sets and clocks, US Chess-branded bags, and instructional books sit alongside premium wooden pieces and boxes. If you are equipping a school club, a tournament, or a home study setup, the catalog is organized around those use cases.

One practical detail worth noting: the site has a dedicated page stating "We Accept Purchase Orders!" (uscfsales.com/pages/purchase-orders). That matters for schools, libraries, and clubs that buy through institutional channels rather than personal checkout.

What the store actually sells

The homepage groups products into featured categories and trending sections. The categories listed are:

  • Chess Pieces
  • Chess Boards
  • Chess Bags
  • Chess Clocks
  • Chess Software
  • Chess Sets
  • Chess Boxes
  • Chess Computers

Beyond categories, the homepage surfaces specific products with prices, which gives a sense of the range:

Product Listed price
Zagreb '59 Series Chess Pieces, 3.875" King $259.00
The Green Magnetic Chess Set $69.95
US Chess Women Deluxe Chess Bag $24.95
DGT North American Digital Chess Clock $59.95
The Millennium King Competition Chess Computer $449.95
Chess 2027 Day-to-Day Calendar $17.95
Karsten Muller – Endgame Training $27.95
CHESSBASE '26 – Mega Package (download) $408.95
Signature Premium Chess Box – Macassar Ebony $395.00
Frank Camaratta Signature Black Slide Top Chess Box $89.95

Two patterns stand out. First, the price span is wide: a $5.95 drawstring bag and a $24.95 bag sit in the same catalog as $400+ chess boxes and $500+ software packages. Second, software is sold as downloads, and the CHESSBASE '26 line appears in Starter, Mega, and Premium tiers at $291.95, $408.95, and $583.95 respectively, with Komodo Dragon 3.2 at $109.95.

How to decide whether to buy here

Use these conditions to judge fit:

  • You want a single source for a full setup. Pieces, board, clock, bag, and box are all in one catalog, which simplifies outfitting a club or a tournament.
  • You need institutional purchasing. The purchase-order page is the relevant entry point; check it before assuming standard consumer checkout is the only option.
  • You are buying software. The download packages are listed with tiered pricing, so compare the Starter/Mega/Premium feature sets rather than price alone.
  • You want US Chess-branded or US Chess-benefiting merchandise. The site explicitly states purchases benefit the federation.

If you only need a casual set for occasional play, the low-end items (magnetic set at $69.95, bags under $25) cover that; the premium boxes and computers are aimed at collectors and serious players.

Practical notes before you order

  • Shipping claims: Some items are flagged "Free Worldwide Shipping" on the homepage (for example, The Green Magnetic Chess Set and several chess boxes). This appears to be item-specific, not a storewide policy, so confirm on the product page for anything you plan to buy.
  • Downloads vs. physical goods: Software is delivered as a download, so there is no shipping wait, but verify system requirements on the product page before purchase.
  • Prices change: The figures above are what the homepage listed at the time of writing; treat them as a snapshot, not a quote.

In short, uscfsales.com is a full-range chess retailer tied to the US Chess Federation, useful if you want equipment, books, and software from one place—especially with institutional purchasing—and less necessary if you only need a basic set at the lowest price.
