What Is Winburndale Wines?
Updated
Winburndale Wines is a family-owned boutique vineyard and winery in the Central Ranges of New South Wales, about 15 minutes east of Bathurst near Glanmire. It grows its own grapes on sloping hillsides, makes wine on site with handpicked fruit and minimal intervention, and welcomes visitors for cellar door tastings — with on-site accommodation if you want to stay among the vines. You can also buy the wines online.
Where it is and what makes the site distinctive
The vineyard sits at 116 Saint Anthony's Creek Road, Glanmire NSW 2795, just over the Blue Mountains from Sydney. According to the winery, its location combines a cool climate, particular soils, sunlight and slope in a balance that shapes the character of the wines. The property is described as a place to wander through the vines, taste at the source and take in the views — with sunsets the winery singles out as a highlight.
How the wines are made
Winburndale describes a deliberately low-intervention approach from vineyard to bottle:
- In the vineyard: hand-pruning, minimal chemical and fertiliser use, and grapes handpicked at peak ripeness for flavour.
- For reds: open fermenters and hand plunging, used to build deep colour, rich flavour and soft, fine tannins.
- For whites: the same thoughtful, minimal-intervention approach.
The result, in the winery's words, is elegant wines with soft, balanced tannins.

Visiting the cellar door
Tastings run at the cellar door, and the opening arrangements differ by day:
- Saturdays: walk-ins welcome, 10.30am–3.30pm.
- Sundays and weekdays: by appointment only.
To book a time, use the contact option on the website or email [email protected].
Staying on the property
The winery offers accommodation on the property, so you can stay among the vines, taste wine at the source and take in the views rather than making a same-day return trip. If an overnight stay is part of your plan, arrange it alongside your tasting booking.
Buying wine online
Wines can be purchased through the website, with the featured reds sold by the case of 6 or 12 bottles. If you already know which wines you want, ordering online avoids needing to coordinate a cellar door visit — though the appointment-only days are worth checking before you plan a trip.
