What kinds of anime music can I listen to on Ongaku?
Updated
Ongaku (ongaku.js.org) organizes its anime radio into three music categories — Opening, Ending, and OST — plus two personal filters, Favorites and Only Star. You listen to them as a continuous radio-style stream in the browser, not as downloadable albums.
The three music categories
| Category | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Opening | Anime opening themes — the songs that play over the title sequence |
| Ending | Anime ending themes — the songs that play over the closing credits |
| OST | Original soundtracks — the background and instrumental music used within a series |
These are the labels shown in the player's preferences area, so you can switch between them to change what the station plays.
Favorites and Only Star
Two further options let you shape what you hear rather than adding new music types:
- Favorites — tracks you have marked as liked, so you can return to them.
- Only Star — a filter that narrows playback to your starred tracks.
Both are personal to your session or browser; they are ways of filtering the existing Opening/Ending/OST pool, not separate content libraries.
How the music is delivered
Ongaku presents tracks as a radio/playlist experience. You get a running stream of anime themes and soundtracks with playback controls rather than a catalog of individual files to download. The player supports pausing, skipping, seeking, and volume changes, and it also exposes keyboard shortcuts for the same actions:
SPACE— pause / playN— next trackR— play againL— last trackUP/DOWN— volume +10% / −10%LEFT/RIGHT— seek −10s / +10sF— fullscreen
What this means in practice
If you want a hands-off way to hear anime openings, endings, and OSTs while browsing, Ongaku's category switch plus Favorites/Only Star filters cover that. If you need specific full tracks, album downloads, or a searchable song database, this radio format is not built for that — it is a curated stream, not a music library.
