What kinds of websites does Leprd allow and not allow?

Updated

Leprd is a free web host aimed at hobbyists, and it draws a clear line between hobby projects and infrastructure-heavy or abusive uses. If your site is a personal, creative, fan, or small non-commercial project, it likely fits. If it runs bots, chat, file hosting, game servers, proxies, VPNs, or anything illegal, it does not. You must also be at least 13 years old, hold only one active account, and get your site online within two weeks of acceptance.

What Leprd allows

The host states it loves to host hobby-related websites. The allowed categories listed on the site are:

  • Art websites
  • Blogs
  • Cliques/Fanlistings
  • Collectives/Networks
  • Fansites/Shrines
  • Graphics/Design/Code Resource Websites
  • Non-Profit Websites
  • Personal Websites 💖
  • Portfolios
  • School Projects
  • Trading Card Games

The common thread is a personal or community hobby project that serves pages and images to visitors, rather than one that consumes significant server resources or acts as a platform for other users.

What Leprd does not allow

The prohibited list is much longer and is split between technical resource abuse and illegal or harmful activity.

Resource-heavy or infrastructure uses

  • Booters/Stressers
  • Botnets
  • Bots/Crawlers
  • Chatrooms
  • CPU-intensive Software
  • Cryptocurrency Mining
  • Denial of Service (DoS) Attacks
  • File/Image/Video Hosting
  • Game Servers
  • IP Spoofers
  • IRC
  • Open DNS Resolvers
  • Port Scanners
  • Proxies
  • Tor Exit Nodes
  • Torrents
  • Traffic Exchange
  • Video Chatting Software
  • Virtual Private Networks (VPNs)

Illegal, harmful, or abusive content

  • Doxxing
  • Hacking-related Activity
  • Hate/Harassment Websites
  • Illegal Adult Content / Illegal Pornography
  • Illegal Distribution of Copyrighted Materials / Piracy
  • Malware/Viruses
  • Nulled Software / Warez
  • Online Pharmacies
  • Phishing Websites
  • Spam

Note that "File/Image/Video Hosting" is banned as a service, but a personal site or portfolio that displays its own images is explicitly in the allowed list. The distinction is whether hosting files is the purpose of the site or just part of a normal hobby page.

Rules that apply to every account

Beyond the category lists, Leprd sets conditions that can get an account terminated:

  • You must be at least 13 years old to apply.
  • Only one active account per person.
  • Your website must be up within two weeks after your application is accepted.
  • All communication happens by email, and you are responsible for keeping your contact information current.
  • Keep installed scripts up to date; outdated scripts are a security risk to the server.
  • Keep your own backups. Backups exist on the host side, but you are responsible for your own data.
  • Do not use your space as idle storage.
  • Do not host illegal content. Everything you upload must comply with the laws of the Netherlands, the United States, and your country of residence.
  • Do not use the mail service for unsolicited mass emails or spam.
  • No paid advertisements such as Google AdSense. Donate buttons such as Ko-fi or PayPal are allowed.
  • Do not resell or provide hosting to other people using your plan.

Termination conditions

Leprd states an account may be terminated without warning if:

  • The account hosts prohibited or illegal content.
  • All domains in the account have been expired for at least three consecutive months.
  • All domains in the account have not pointed to Leprd's servers for at least three consecutive months.

Terminations are irreversible. If you are unsure whether your project fits, the site explicitly invites you to ask directly before applying.

Quick self-check

Your project Fits Leprd?
Personal blog or portfolio Yes
Fansite, shrine, or fanlisting Yes

Game server or bot/crawler No
File, image, or video hosting service No

If your project is a hobby site you maintain yourself, with no paid ads and no reselling, it is probably within scope. If it exists to move files, run chat, or provide network infrastructure, look elsewhere.
