What language and audience does the Forum der deutschen VTES-Community target?

Updated

The Forum der deutschen VTES-Community (forum.vekn.de) is a German-language discussion board for players of V:TES (Vampire: The Eternal Masquerade, the collectible card game). Its primary audience is German-speaking VTES players, but the board also carries a small amount of English content, so players who can read German — or who are willing to post in German — can use it too. If you only speak English, you can still browse some threads, but most activity is in German.

What the board is

The site is a phpBB-style forum titled "Forum der deutschen VTES-Community." Its index page is organized into topic areas rather than a single feed, and the visible board names and post titles are overwhelmingly German. The forum covers the card game itself, rules questions, strategy, and player-to-player card trading.

Language: mostly German, with some English

The evidence from the board index shows German throughout:

  • Board headings such as "Allgemeines," "Beratung," "Regelfragen," "Strategie und Taktik," and "Succubus Club."
  • Thread titles like "Herzlich Willkommen," "Suche Spieler oder offiziellen Ansprechpartner," and "Rudolfs Kartenbörse."
  • One section is explicitly bilingual: "Info für neue Spieler / Info for new players."

So the working language is German. English appears mainly in that new-player section and in occasional thread titles, not as a parallel language for the whole forum.

Who it is for

Audience Fit
German-speaking VTES players Primary audience; all main sections are in German
Players in Germany, Austria, Switzerland The board is framed as the German VTES community and includes player-search threads
English-only players Can read some threads, but most rules, strategy, and trading discussion is in German
New players A dedicated "Info für neue Spieler / Info for new players" area exists, including introductions and player search

What gets discussed

The index shows these main areas:

  • V:TES Allgemein — general VTES topics, including upcoming products (the largest section by post count in the excerpt).
  • Ressourcen — VTES websites, deck-building tools, proxy tools, and rulebooks.
  • Succubus Club — trading, buying, and selling VTES cards, with links to web shops.
  • Regelfragen — rules and card questions.
  • Strategie und Taktik — how to play and win, sharing experience with other players.
  • Info für neue Spieler / Info for new players — welcome threads, finding players or official contacts, and new-member introductions.
  • Allgemeines VTES Foren Archiv — an archive of older general VTES threads.

Practical takeaway

If you are a German-speaking VTES player, this is a directly relevant community: you can ask rules questions, discuss strategy, find local players, and trade cards in your own language. If you are an English-only player, treat it as a German-language resource — useful for browsing card and rules discussions, but expect to translate or post in German to take part. The bilingual new-player section is the most accessible entry point if your German is limited.
