What Macs and Apple Demos Are Available in Macswest's Room C?
Updated
Room C at Macswest holds the club's shared computer lab, and according to the club's October 2026 newsletter, the desktops there now run iOS 26 with AI capabilities and are open to all CW members during club operating hours. The same room also has a "MacBook Neo" on display for members to see and try. Room C is free to use whenever the club is open, and the club pairs the equipment with video training and a macOS Tahoe 26 preview.
What's in the lab
| Item | What the club says | Access condition |
|---|---|---|
| Room C desktops | Equipped with iOS 26 and AI capabilities | Open to all CW members during club operating hours |
| MacBook Neo | "Now available to see and use in Room C" | Same room, same member access |
| Mac U video training | Free Mac lessons | Offered as part of club programming |
| macOS Tahoe 26 preview | "Liquid Glass Design & Appearance Preview" | Listed as a free lesson topic |
Two details are worth flagging. First, the newsletter describes the desktops as running "iOS 26," which is the iPhone/iPad operating system name; Macs normally run macOS. Treat the exact software on the desktops as something to confirm in person rather than a settled spec. Second, the MacBook Neo is presented as a hands-on demo unit, not as a loaner or a machine you can take home — the newsletter only says it is available to see and use in Room C.
When you can use it
Room C is described as open whenever the club is open, free of charge. Regular hours (September–May) are:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
- Wednesday and Friday: 7:30 am – 4:00 pm
The newsletter's sample week shows how the room fits into the schedule: Monday, October 5 has Room C open for free use all day with the Mac U video training; Tuesday, October 6 runs "Tech Tips Tuesday" from 12:30–1:30 pm, a peer-to-peer session where members share Apple features and can use the club's Macs; Wednesday, October 7 has an Apple Support Session at 10:00 am in Room C, no appointment needed.
What to bring and how to prepare
- Your Apple ID and passwords. The support session explicitly asks you to bring a list of IDs and passwords, written down and stored safely.
- Your own device if you want help with it. Tech Tips Tuesday asks attendees to bring an updated iOS 26 or iOS 18 iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch.
- A specific question. Wednesday's session is one-on-one help with Apple devices and apps — email accounts and new-device setup are named as common issues.
One distinction matters: Tech Tips Tuesday is a collaborative, peer-to-peer session and is explicitly not a formal class or individual technical assistance. If you need one-on-one help, the newsletter points you to the Wednesday Genius Bar-style support session instead.
Choosing the right session
- Want to try the hardware and AI demos? Go to Room C during open hours and use the desktops or the MacBook Neo.
- Want to learn at your own pace? Use the free Mac U video training and the macOS Tahoe 26 preview.
- Want to swap tips with other members? Attend Tech Tips Tuesday, 12:30–1:30 pm.
- Stuck on a problem? Walk into the Wednesday 10:00 am Apple Support Session with your passwords and device.
The club also notes it needs support-session helpers — members with Mac, iPhone, or iPad skills are invited to share them, and the newsletter stresses you don't need to be an expert.
