What Member-Only Resources Does SFQG Offer and How Do I Access Them?

Updated

SFQG members get access to a Member's Only Page that hosts special event links, quilt appraisal coordination, and Quilt Index submission information. You reach these resources by logging in through the Member's Only Page on sfquiltersguild.org; the site does not publish a public sign-up form for membership, so joining is handled separately from the member area. The guild also publishes a standing phishing warning: no one from SFQG will email you asking for money, so verify any unusual request before replying.

What's behind the Member's Only Page

The guild's announcements point to three member resources in particular:

  • Global Quilt Connection All Star Sampler Platter — SFQG members are invited to access the Global Quilt Connection All Star Sampler event on October 24th & 25th. The "secret link" for the event is posted on the Member's Only Page.
  • Quilt appraisals at QUILT 2027 — Nancy Bavor will provide quilt appraisals at QUILT 2027 (April 2–3, 2027). Details are on the Member's Only Page, and you email Elfrieda O'Neill to coordinate if you want a quilt appraised.
  • Quilt Index submissions — the site lists "Submit a Quilt to the Quilt Index" as an ongoing member activity.

How to get in

  1. Go to sfquiltersguild.org and open the Member's Only Page.
  2. Log in with your member credentials. The site does not describe the login or password-reset flow, so if you don't have credentials, ask a guild contact rather than guessing at a URL.
  3. Once inside, use the posted links for the Global Quilt Connection event and appraisal details. Treat the "secret link" as member-only and don't forward it publicly.

If you're not yet a member, the public pages don't explain how to join; the practical route is to attend a monthly meeting (in person at St. Anne of the Sunset, third Tuesday) and ask about membership there.

Public resources you don't need a login for

Several things the guild offers are open to everyone, which matters if you're deciding whether membership is worth it:

Resource Access Details
Monthly meeting Public In person at St. Anne of the Sunset, 7:00–9:00 PM; next session Nov 10 features Radha Weaver on "From fast fashion to sustainable stitching"
Community Outreach Public Curbside drop-off first Saturday of each month and at the third-Tuesday in-person meeting; confirm dates on the Event Calendar
Library Public at meetings Available at monthly in-person meetings; contact Cher delaMere with questions; catalog searchable online
QUILT 2027 volunteering Public Co-chairs Margo Carroll and Rene Steinpress run monthly Team Leader meetings by Zoom; digital SignUp available
Block of the Month Public Current block due September 2026
Newsletter Public Current issue linked from the homepage

So the member-only layer is mainly about special event access, appraisal coordination, and the Quilt Index—not about the core meeting and outreach programming.

The phishing warning, and why it matters here

Because member benefits arrive as emailed links, the guild posts an explicit alert:

  • No one from the guild will email you to send money on behalf of the guild, and no one will send an urgent request for money.
  • Before replying to any unusual email, verify the address is valid and matches the person's name.
  • Don't click unsolicited emailed links to log in to any account.

A concrete case: if you receive a message claiming to be from a guild officer with an "urgent" request and a login link for the All Star Sampler, don't use that link. Instead, navigate to sfquiltersguild.org yourself and open the Member's Only Page directly. That habit—typing the address rather than following the email—is the simplest protection, and it costs you nothing.

Quick decision guide

  • Want the Global Quilt Connection event or appraisal details? You need member access to the Member's Only Page; email Elfrieda O'Neill for appraisal coordination.
  • Want to quilt for donation or attend talks? No login needed—check the Event Calendar and Community Outreach page.
  • Unsure about an email? Verify the sender and go to the site directly; the guild will never ask for money by email.
