What Multimedia and Interactive Features Does The Gilmer Mirror Offer?

Updated

The Gilmer Mirror (gilmermirror.com) offers four main multimedia and interactive features: a "Video Of The Week" slot, video posts tied to local high school sports, a reader poll, and a national headlines feed. The homepage also uses multi-page navigation (numbered 1–161) to browse older posts. These features sit alongside the site's news and sports coverage, and the poll and headlines feed are visible directly on the homepage.

Video content

Video Of The Week

The homepage includes a dedicated "Video Of The Week" section. In the captured homepage content, the featured item is "Video: 2026 Etex CEO Membership Report." This slot appears to rotate weekly and highlights a single video rather than a full video library.

Sports video posts

Local high school sports generate their own video posts, published as standalone items. Examples from the homepage include:

  • "Video: Gilmer High School vs Center High School Mens JV Football" (October 22, 2026)
  • "Video: Gilmer High School vs Daingerfield High School Mens Freshman Football" (October 22, 2026)
  • "Video: Coach's Show | Episode 7 2026" (October 20, 2026)

These are listed under the "Area Sports" section, so if you follow a specific team, checking that section is the most direct way to find game footage and coach shows.

Reader polls

The homepage carries a "Take Our Poll" feature. The poll shown asks: "If you live in Texas, do you consider yourself a Texan first or an American?" with two answer options ("Texan" and "American") and a "View Results" link. This is a single-question, two-option format with results viewable after voting. Poll topics appear to change, so the question you see may differ from this example.

National headlines feed

A "National Headlines" block appears at the bottom of the homepage, separate from the local "Area News." In the captured content, it includes items such as:

  • "Analysis: Trump deportations near 1M, but few are criminals"
  • "E-bikes now rival motorcycles for speed. State and city laws haven't caught up."
  • "A record number of women are running for state legislatures this year"

This feed gives readers a quick national news summary without leaving the site, while the main body of the page stays focused on Upshur County and surrounding communities.

Browsing older content

Below the main homepage sections, pagination labeled "1 2 3 ... 161 Next »" lets you move through earlier posts. This is the main way to reach older videos, polls, and stories that have scrolled off the front page.

What to expect and limitations

  • Video format: The site lists video posts by title and date; the homepage content does not specify hosting platform, length, or whether live streaming is offered.
  • Poll scope: Only one poll is displayed at a time, and the homepage content does not indicate an archive of past poll results.
  • Subscription: The site shows "subscribe" signals, but the homepage content does not detail what a subscription includes or whether any multimedia features are restricted. Check the subscription page directly before assuming access terms.

If your goal is game footage or coach shows, start with the Area Sports section; if you want to participate rather than just read, the homepage poll is the interactive entry point.
