What nameservers should I use for Leprd hosting?

Updated

Use ns1.leprd.space and ns2.leprd.space as the nameservers for any domain you want to host on Leprd. You set these at your domain registrar, not inside Leprd itself. This applies once your application has been accepted and you're ready to point your domain at Leprd's servers.

Where to enter the nameservers

Leprd doesn't manage your domain registration, so the change happens on the registrar side (the company where you bought the domain, such as Namecheap, Porkbun, Cloudflare Registrar, or similar).

  1. Log in to your domain registrar's control panel.
  2. Find the DNS or nameserver settings for the domain — often labeled "Nameservers," "DNS Management," or "Custom DNS."
  3. Switch from the registrar's default nameservers to custom nameservers.
  4. Enter both values:
    • ns1.leprd.space
    • ns2.leprd.space
  5. Save the change.

Expected result: your domain's DNS records are now delegated to Leprd's nameservers, so Leprd can serve your site on that domain. Propagation usually takes a few hours, though it can take up to 48 hours depending on the registrar and TLD.

Why the timing matters

Leprd's rules tie domain pointing to account status, so this isn't a step you can skip indefinitely:

  • Your website must be up within two (2) weeks after your application is accepted.
  • An account can be terminated without warning if all domains in the account are not pointed to Leprd's servers for at least three (3) consecutive months.
  • The same three-month rule applies if all domains in the account are expired for that long.

Account terminations are irreversible, so if you're unsure whether your setup counts as "pointed," ask before letting it sit.

Common snags

  • Registrar uses its own DNS by default. You must actively switch to custom nameservers; leaving the default in place means your domain never reaches Leprd.
  • Only one domain value entered. Both ns1 and ns2 should be set — they're a pair.
  • You also need an account first. Nameservers only matter after your application is accepted; you must be at least 13 years old to apply, and only one active account is allowed at a time.
  • Email contact matters. All Leprd communication is by email, so keep your contact information current or you may miss notices that affect your account.
