What Pre-Order, Exclusive, and Limited Edition Mean on Mondo

Updated

On mondoshop.com, these labels tell you two different things: when you can get the item (Pre-Order) and how restricted it is (Exclusive, Limited Edition, Distributed title). Pre-Order means the item isn't released yet but you can buy it now to reserve one. Exclusive means Mondo is the only seller or the version is unique to Mondo. Limited Edition means the run is capped and may not be restocked. Distributed title means another label made it and Mondo is only handling sales. The labels often stack — a single listing can be both Exclusive and Limited Edition — so read them together rather than as one status.

Pre-Order: buying before release

A Pre-Order listing means the product has been announced but hasn't shipped yet. You place the order now and it's fulfilled when stock arrives.

  • The listing shows Pre-Order where a released item would show Add to Cart.
  • You can still add it to your cart and complete checkout — the difference is timing, not availability of the order itself.
  • Your card is typically charged at purchase, and the item ships later. Treat the order as a commitment, not a reservation you can casually drop.

Example from the site: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Leonardo 1/6 Scale Figure ($235) and MOTU200X - He-Man 1/12 Scale Figure ($95) both show Pre-Order, while The Real Ghostbusters: Winston Zeddemore 1/12 Figure ($101) shows Add to Cart because it's already released.

What to check before pre-ordering: the expected ship window (if listed), whether the release date can slip, and whether you're comfortable paying now for something that arrives months later.

Exclusive: sold only through Mondo, or a Mondo-only version

Exclusive signals that the item is tied to Mondo specifically — either Mondo is the sole retailer, or this is a version you can't get elsewhere.

  • The Last of Us: Season 1 - Soundtrack 2xLP ($42) is marked Mondo Exclusive.
  • God of War Ragnarok - Original Soundtrack 3XLP + Slipcase ($60) is marked Exclusive.

If you want that exact pressing or edition, Mondo is your only route. If you only want the music or the character and don't care about the specific version, a standard release may exist elsewhere — but it won't be this one.

Limited Edition: capped run, restock not guaranteed

Limited Edition means a fixed number were produced. Once they sell out, a reprint isn't promised.

  • Freddy Vs. Jason - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack 2XLP ($60) is listed as Limited Edition.
  • Silver Bullet - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack LP ($35) is also Limited Edition.

The practical consequence: if you're deciding, waiting carries real risk of the item disappearing. This is the label where "buy now or possibly never" actually applies.

Distributed title: made by someone else, sold by Mondo

Distributed title means the product comes from another label or maker, and Mondo is acting as a seller rather than the creator.

  • Metal Gear Solid - Piano Collection 2XLP ($48) is a Distributed title.
  • Superman (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) 2XLP ($55) and Monarch: Legacy of Monsters LP ($35) also carry the label.

This matters for expectations: the edition, quality, and production decisions belong to the originating label, not Mondo. It may also be available through other retailers, so Mondo isn't necessarily your only option.

How the labels combine

Label What it controls What it means for you
Pre-Order Timing Item not out yet; order now, ships later
Exclusive Seller/version Only Mondo sells it, or it's a Mondo-only edition
Limited Edition Quantity Fixed run; restock not guaranteed
Distributed title Origin Another label made it; Mondo resells it

A listing can carry several at once. The Last of Us: Season 1 is both Mondo Exclusive and a Distributed title — a Mondo-only version of a release handled through distribution. Silver Bullet is Limited Edition, Exclusive, and a Distributed title together.

Quick decision guide

  • Want it and it's Limited Edition? Decide now; the run may not come back.
  • Want that specific version? Exclusive means Mondo is the only source.
  • Don't mind waiting? Pre-Order is fine — just accept the later ship date.
  • Only want the content, not the edition? A Distributed title may be available elsewhere, so compare before buying.
  • Unsure if it's released? Look for Add to Cart (available now) versus Pre-Order (not yet shipped).
