What Progress Tracking and Analytics Does Liftosaur Provide?
Updated
Liftosaur tracks every set and rep you log, stores body stats, and turns that data into graphs for weight, reps, and volume over time — including weekly volume per muscle group, split into what your program prescribed versus what you actually completed. It also supports 1RM and RPE data, and stores everything in the cloud so you can access it from any device. This applies whether you run a built-in routine or a custom program written in Liftoscript.
What gets recorded
Each workout entry captures the details you'd expect from a serious lifting log:
- Per-set logging — weight and reps for every set, with warmup sets tracked separately from working sets (the editor shows warmup sets marked with a "W").
- Exercise-level structure — exercises are organized by week and day, so the same lift can carry different targets across a program.
- Body stats — you can monitor body measurements alongside your lifting numbers.
- RPE and 1RM — rate of perceived exertion and estimated one-rep max are supported as tracked values, not just notes.
Because built-in programs like GZCLP, 5/3/1, PPL, and Starting Strength are themselves written in Liftoscript, the tracking layer reads the same structure the program defines. That means the app knows what you were supposed to do, not just what you typed in.
The analytics you get
Liftosaur's analytics go beyond a single-number PR list:
| View | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Weight over time | How your working weight for a given exercise changes across sessions |
| Reps over time | Rep progression per exercise |
| Volume over time | Total volume per exercise, tracked as a trend |
| Weekly volume per muscle group | Prescribed volume vs. actually completed volume |
The prescribed-versus-completed split is the part worth paying attention to. Most trackers only show what you did. Liftosaur also shows what the program asked for, so a gap between the two is visible — useful when you're missing sets on a particular muscle group without realizing it.
Automatic progression feeds the data
Tracking and progression are connected in Liftosaur. The app supports built-in Linear, Double, and Rep Sum progressions, and it adjusts your program automatically after every workout. If you need something the built-ins don't cover, you can script custom logic in Liftoscript.
This matters for analytics because the adjustments become part of your history: you can see not just that your weight went up, but that the program raised it according to a rule you set.
Where your data lives
All data is stored securely in the cloud, which is what makes the same log available across iOS, Android, and the web app. You can log a session on your phone at the gym and review graphs or edit your program on a desktop browser later.
How to put this to use
- Pick a starting point — choose one of the 50+ built-in routines or write your own in Liftoscript.
- Log every set — weight and reps per set, warmups included, plus RPE where relevant.
- Record body stats on whatever cadence you choose.
- Check the graphs after a few weeks — weight, reps, and volume trends per exercise.
- Review weekly volume per muscle group, comparing prescribed against completed, and adjust the program if the gap is consistent.
The practical value shows up around the four-to-six-week mark: that's when volume and weight trends have enough points to distinguish real progress from session-to-session noise, and when a prescribed-versus-completed gap becomes a pattern rather than a bad day.
