What Recent News and Events Are Posted on the Akron Soccer League Website?

The Akron Soccer League site currently highlights four items: two championship results for the Akron Royals U16 girls team, the club's annual meeting on August 5 at 7:00 PM, and a members-only 20% discount event at DICK'S Sporting Goods. It also lists open tryouts for the Akron Lynx U13 girls and open registration for the 2026 Fall House League. Each item below covers what happened or is scheduled, who it involves, and what a family may need to act on.

Championship: Akron Royals Win BWNYJSL U16 Division 1

The Akron Royals U16 girls captured the 2026 Buffalo Western New York Junior Soccer League (BWNYJSL) U16 Division 1 Championship with an 8-1-1 record. The club's news post notes the team showed early signs of a special season by winning the U16 division. For families evaluating the travel program, this is the clearest recent evidence of the level the club's older girls teams compete at.

Championship: Akron Royals Win the Akron Kick It First Tournament

Earlier in the season, the same U16 girls team won the championship at the 25th annual Akron Kick It First Tournament, held May 9–10. According to the club, this made them the first Akron-based team in recent memory to win the club's own tournament. The event drew nearly 100 teams from across the region, and the Royals hosted while competing. That detail matters if you're considering the tournament as a participant: it's a large regional event run by the club itself.

Annual Meeting: August 5 at 7:00 PM

The Akron Soccer Club Annual Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 5, at 7:00 PM at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4809 S. Newstead Road, Akron. The site does not list an agenda, voting items, or whether attendance is limited to members. If you want a say in club operations or simply want to hear how the season went, this is the posted date, time, and location to plan around.

DICK'S Sporting Goods Member Discount: April 24–27, 2026

Akron Soccer Club partnered with DICK'S Sporting Goods to offer members 20% off an entire purchase at select DICK'S locations from April 24 through April 27, 2026. The post says "select" stores without naming them, so confirm your local store participates before making the trip. This is a seasonal gear-saving opportunity rather than an ongoing benefit.

Tryouts and Registration Also Posted

Two time-sensitive items sit alongside the news:

• Akron Lynx U13 Girls tryouts are open, with sessions on August 29 and September 12. The club describes them as open tryouts; the post does not list a registration form, fee, or check-in time, so plan to contact the club for those details.
• 2026 Fall House League registration is open. The six-week season runs August 16 through September 26, with Saturday morning games and weeknight practices set by each coach. All sessions are at the Akron Falls Sports Complex on Skyline Drive, and registration is $55.
