What Research and International Sections Are Available on the Iscte Website?

Updated

Iscte's website (iscte-iul.pt) organizes research and international content into two separate top-level menus: Research and International. The Research menu covers the university's research activity, publishing, support services and funding recognition, while the International menu covers why to choose Iscte, living in Lisbon, support for international students and mobility programmes such as Erasmus+ and Erasmus Mundus. Each menu expands into sub-sections, which are listed below.

Research sections

The Research menu groups six sub-sections:

Sub-section What it covers
Research at Iscte Overview of the university's research activity and units
Open Research Open research information and initiatives
Publications and Publishers Publishing output and publisher-related content
Research Support Support services for researchers
HR Excellence in Research The HR Excellence in Research recognition
ERC Grants Information on European Research Council grants

If you are a prospective PhD student or researcher, "Research at Iscte" and "Research Support" are the natural starting points; if you are looking for funding-related information, the ERC Grants and HR Excellence in Research pages sit under the same menu.

International sections

The International menu also has six sub-sections:

Sub-section What it covers
Why Iscte? Reasons to choose Iscte, aimed at international audiences
Living in Lisbon Practical information about living in the city
International students Information specifically for international students
Erasmus+ Programme Erasmus+ mobility information
Erasmus Mundus Erasmus Mundus programme information
Exchange Exchange programme information
International cooperation Cooperation activities and partnerships

Note that the menu as shown on the homepage lists seven entries under International (including International cooperation), so treat the table as the full set of sub-sections rather than a fixed count.

How to use these sections

  1. Open iscte-iul.pt and use the main menu (labeled "Programmes," "Study," "Research," "International," "News," "Iscte").
  2. Select Research or International to expand the sub-menu, then choose the sub-section you need.
  3. Expect some pages to be machine-translated: the homepage carries a notice that pages may be automatically translated by Google Translate and that the university does not take responsibility for the result. For official or decision-critical details, switch to the Portuguese version (PT) using the language toggle.

A practical example: an exchange applicant would go to International → Exchange or Erasmus+ Programme, while a researcher looking for funding calls would go to Research → ERC Grants. Both paths start from the same top-level menu, so the main task is knowing which of the two menus your question belongs to.
