What to Expect at Winburndale Wines' Cellar Door

Updated

Winburndale Wines welcomes cellar door visitors on Saturdays from 10:30am to 3:30pm without a booking. On Sundays and weekdays, visits are by appointment only, arranged by emailing [email protected]. The cellar door sits at 116 Saint Anthony's Creek Road, Glanmire NSW 2795, about 15 minutes east of Bathurst in the Central Ranges of NSW.

Opening Hours and Access

Day Access
Saturday Walk-ins welcome, 10:30am–3:30pm
Sunday By appointment only
Weekdays By appointment only

If your visit falls outside Saturday hours, email ahead to organise a time. The cellar door is described as easy to find, and the winery sits on the same property as the vineyard.

What a Visit Involves

The cellar door experience centres on two things: tasting the wines and walking the property.

  • Wine tasting — the current collection includes Fontana Cabernet Sauvignon, Remnant Shiraz, Pick Pan & Shovel Shiraz Cabernet, Lost & Found Shiraz Cabernet, Golden Gully Pinot Gris, Little Wonder Chardonnay, and Rosie's Rosé.
  • A stroll through the vines — the vineyard is on-site, so you can walk among the plantings that produced the wine you're tasting. The property's sloping hillsides and cool climate are part of what shapes the wines.

The setting is a family-owned, boutique operation rather than a large commercial cellar door, so expect a quieter, more personal visit.

Staying on the Property

Winburndale also offers accommodation on the property, which lets you extend a tasting visit into an overnight stay and take in the vineyard views — the winery notes that sunsets there are a highlight. If you're travelling from Sydney, the location just over the Blue Mountains makes it feasible as a day trip or a weekend stop.

Buying Wine

Wines can be purchased online as well as at the cellar door. Some releases are sold by the case:

  • 2023 Remnant Shiraz — from $180.00, sold in cases of 6 or 12 bottles. Aged 12–15 months in French oak, with pepper, plum, and blackberry aromas.
  • 2023 Pick Pan & Shovel Shiraz Cabernet — from $115.00, sold in cases of 6 or 12 bottles. A 50/50 Cabernet–Shiraz blend with blackberry, cherry, and pepper notes.

Practical Points Before You Go

  • Book ahead for anything other than Saturday. Sunday and weekday visits require an appointment, so email before you plan travel around those days.
  • Use the email, not a phone number. The site directs visit enquiries to [email protected].
  • Check the address carefully. Glanmire is a small locality east of Bathurst; the full address is 116 Saint Anthony's Creek Road, Glanmire NSW 2795.
  • Allow time beyond the tasting. The vine walk and the property views are part of the visit, not an add-on.
