What Types of Epic Passes Are Available?
Updated
Epic Pass offers three main categories of passes: Epic Passes (the flagship Epic Pass, Epic Local Pass, and Epic 1–7 Day Pass), Regional Passes (Tahoe Local, Tahoe Value, Keystone Plus, Summit Value, Northeast Value, and Northeast Midweek), and Specialty Passes (Military, College & Young Adult, Senior, Adaptive, Epic SchoolKids, and Epic Australia). If you already know your home mountain or how many days you'll ski, the fastest way to narrow it down is the Pass Finder tool on epicpass.com.
Epic Passes
These are the core, broad-access products:
| Pass | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Epic Pass | The flagship option with the widest resort access |
| Epic Local Pass | A lower-cost version with some access restrictions |
| Epic 1–7 Day Pass | For skiers/riders who want a set number of days rather than a full season |
The Epic 1–7 Day Pass is the odd one out here — it's structured around a fixed day count instead of unlimited access, so it suits people who only plan a short trip or two.
Regional Passes
Regional passes trade broad access for a lower price tied to a specific area:
- Tahoe Local Pass and Tahoe Value Pass — for the Lake Tahoe region
- Keystone Plus Pass and Summit Value Pass — for the Colorado Summit County area
- Northeast Value Pass and Northeast Midweek Pass — for Northeast resorts, with the Midweek version excluding peak weekend/holiday dates
If you ski mostly at one destination, a regional pass is usually the cheaper route. The trade-off is that access outside your region is limited or absent.
Specialty Passes
These are eligibility-based rather than location-based:
- Military Passes — for active and retired military
- College & Young Adult — for students and young adults
- Senior Passes — for older skiers and riders
- Adaptive Passes — for adaptive athletes
- Epic SchoolKids — a school-age program
- Epic Australia Pass — for the Australian resorts
You generally need to verify eligibility (age, student status, military status, etc.) to buy these, so check the requirements before assuming you qualify.
How to Choose
- Start with the Pass Finder. It's the site's built-in tool for matching your situation to a pass.
- Decide your access scope. Do you need multiple regions and resorts, or just your local mountain? Broad need → Epic Pass family. Local need → Regional Pass.
- Check your eligibility. If you're military, a student, a senior, or an adaptive athlete, a specialty pass may be cheaper than a standard one.
- Confirm the day count. If you only ski a handful of days, compare the Epic 1–7 Day Pass against a full season pass before committing.
What Pass Holders Get
All pass holders get Epic Mountain Rewards, which the site describes as 20% off food, lodging, group lessons, and more. Pass information pages also cover restricted peak dates, missing pass cards, mobile pass, and summer access — worth checking if any of those affect your plans.
