What WeightWatchers Plans Are Available and How Do I Get Started?
Updated
WeightWatchers currently presents two ways to join: a without-medication track built on its Points® program (Core and Core+), and a with-medication track that gives qualifying members access to FDA-approved GLP-1 medications plus the GLP-1 Success Program. You start by choosing a track, then following the "Get Started" or "Join" entry point on weightwatchers.com. Plan details and current pricing live on the site's plans page, and the homepage is currently promoting a 50% discount on a 12-month plan.
The two tracks, side by side
| Without medication | With medication | |
|---|---|---|
| What you get | Points® program plus tools, described as the #1 doctor-recommended program | Access to GLP-1s and other weight-loss medications if you qualify, plus the GLP-1 Success Program |
| Plan names shown | Core, Core+ | Med+ (referenced in the site's member data) |
| Entry action | "Join Core" / "Join Core+" | "See if you qualify" / "Learn more" |
| Eligibility | Not stated as restricted | Requires qualifying |
The medication track is explicitly conditional — the site says "if you qualify," so it is not an open enrollment option. The without-medication track has no stated eligibility gate.
How to get started
- Go to weightwatchers.com.
- Decide which track fits you: habits-only (Core/Core+) or medication-supported (GLP-1 path).
- If you want the medication path, use "See if you qualify" to check eligibility before anything else — this determines whether that track is even open to you.
- If you want the habits path, use "Join Core" or "Join Core+".
- For full plan details and current pricing, go to the plans page at weightwatchers.com/us/plans.
Expected result: you land in either the Core/Core+ signup flow or the GLP-1 qualification flow, depending on the button you chose.
What the results data actually says
The site cites two different bodies of evidence, and they are not interchangeable:
- WW program clinical trial: participants lost an average of 12 lbs (5.4% of body weight) after 6 months.
- Weight Watchers Med+ member data: members lost on average 19.4% of body weight (44.5 lbs) after 12 months from starting their Med+ membership.
- GLP-1 Success Program engagement: based on an internal analysis of 3,325 members who requested at least one GLP-1 refill and self-reported starting weight and week-52 weight, Med+ members prescribed a GLP-1 who engaged regularly with the GLP-1 Success Program lost 29.1% more body weight on average at 12 months.
The 29.1% figure is a relative difference between engaged and less-engaged members within the medication group — not a standalone weight-loss result. The 19.4% figure comes from member data, not a controlled trial, and the 5.4% figure comes from a trial of the program without medication. Keep those sources separate when you compare the tracks.
Common sticking points
- The medication track is gated. "If you qualify" means you cannot simply buy your way into GLP-1 access; qualification comes first.
- Core vs. Core+ is not explained on the homepage. The homepage only shows the two join buttons. You need the plans page for the actual difference.
- The 50% offer is tied to a 12-month plan and carries offer terms — read them before assuming the discount applies to shorter commitments.
- Testimonial weights are individual results, marked with an asterisk, and sit alongside the group averages above. They are not predictions for any new member.
Which one to pick
Choose the without-medication track if you want to build eating and tracking habits through the Points® program and don't need or want medication involved. Choose the with-medication track only if you expect to qualify for GLP-1s and want the structured GLP-1 Success Program alongside them — and check qualification before planning around it. If you're undecided, the qualification check is the cheapest way to find out whether the medication path is even available to you; if it isn't, Core or Core+ is the remaining option.
