What You Need to Set Up uNmINeD's Isometric Mode
Updated
Isometric mode in uNmINeD requires a Minecraft Java Edition client JAR file, even if you are mapping a Bedrock world. You select it in the World/App settings menu under "Default Minecraft client JAR to use." For Bedrock worlds, you also need a vanilla resource pack ZIP file selected in the same settings area. Note that isometric image and web export is not yet available in the current development snapshot, and documentation for isometric mode is still being written.
Required Files
| World type | What you need | Where to get it |
|---|---|---|
| Minecraft Java Edition | Java Edition client JAR | Your installed client, or download one from the Minecraft Wiki |
| Minecraft Bedrock Edition | Java Edition client JAR and a vanilla resource pack ZIP | Client JAR as above; resource pack from GitHub (click Assets, download bedrock-samples-*-full.zip) |
The experimental block model rendering that powers isometric mode needs the Java client JAR for both Java and Bedrock worlds. If you don't have a Java Edition client installed, the release notes point to the Minecraft Wiki as a source for a client JAR file.
Step-by-Step Setup
- Open World/App settings in uNmINeD.
- Set the client JAR: under "Default Minecraft client JAR to use," select a Java Edition client JAR file.
- For Bedrock worlds only: select a vanilla resource pack ZIP file in the same settings area.
- Load your world and switch to isometric rendering.
Version matching is not strict — the release notes state that using the latest resource pack usually works even if versions don't match exactly.
Current Limitations
- No isometric export yet: isometric image and web export is not available in the 0.20.11-dev snapshot.
- Documentation pending: how-to guides for isometric mode are described as coming soon.
- Development snapshot: these features ship in dev builds (0.20.11-dev, published October 6, 2026), so expect changes between releases.
Why the JAR Matters
Isometric mode uses a redesigned block model processing, caching, and rendering pipeline. The client JAR supplies the block models and textures the renderer needs to draw blocks in 3D — that's why it's required for Bedrock worlds too, which don't ship models in a form uNmINeD's isometric renderer reads directly. The 0.20.11-dev notes also mention improved 26.3+ default blockstate resolving speed and a large drop in memory usage for isometric rendering, so using a current client JAR keeps blockstate resolution accurate.
If you only need a flat 2D overview map, you can skip all of this — the standard 2D map and its image/web export work without a client JAR or resource pack.
