How to join
In person
The Central Office is in the Annex of the Collegiate United Methodist Church at 130 S. Sheldon Ave. #309, Ames, Iowa, 50014. Note that the site says access to the Central Office requires contacting an Ames AA Group Literature Representative to assist you — so if you plan to attend face to face, arrange that contact ahead of time rather than simply showing up.
By Zoom
The Intergroup provides a Zoom link on its site for the business meeting. The same page also lists a phone dial-in option:
- Dial-in number: +13052241968
- Meeting/access code: 83035842516#
If you prefer to call in rather than use video, that dial-in path is the one the Intergroup publishes.
What the meeting is for
Ames Central Office Intergroup exists to aid the Ames Area AA groups in their common purpose of carrying the AA message to the alcoholic who still suffers. The business meeting is the monthly gathering where that work is discussed, and it is open to any Ames AA member who wants to take part.
Questions and other ways to reach the Intergroup
- To talk to an Ames area AA member day or night: 515-232-8642
- Questions by email: the address listed on the Intergroup site
- For area events and flyers to distribute in your home group, the site points to its Events/Flyers page
If you are new to AA itself rather than to the business meeting, the Intergroup also links to introductory material on the AA recovery program, how AA groups function, and a guide to understanding AA meeting types and codes — useful if you are still figuring out which meetings to attend before getting involved in Intergroup business.
