Before you go: check for cancellations

The club does not always meet every scheduled Thursday. In July 2026, the site posted a notice that there would be no Scrabble on Thursday, July 16, with play resuming the following week on July 23. A quick look at the latest news on the homepage will tell you whether the upcoming Thursday is on.

What a typical session looks like

The club's weekly statistics give a sense of the format. For the session on October 22, 2026, the site reported 7 players and 12 games, with an average score of 364. It also tracks:

  • Bingos played that night (e.g., PREFILES, STANINE, SEELING)
  • High scores for the evening
  • Best performances, listed with win-loss records and spread

This suggests a casual but organized club night with multiple games per player, rather than a single tournament round.

Other ways to stay connected

  • Facebook: The club maintains a page at facebook.com/WinnipegScrabble and invites visitors to like it for updates.
  • Mailing list: You can sign up for the club's mailing list through the website.
  • Tournaments: The site also advertises events such as the Prairie Dust-up Scrabble Tournament, so it's worth checking if you're interested in competitive play beyond weekly meetings.

Quick checklist for your first visit
