Where to Download or Update to Flagfox 6.2.6
Updated
Flagfox 6.2.6 is distributed through AMO (addons.mozilla.org), Mozilla's official add-on site. According to the Flagfox blog post announcing the release, the update "will be available for update and download from AMO as soon as it is approved by Mozilla." In other words, the blog is the announcement channel, but AMO is the place where you actually get the file. The release targets Firefox 115 and later.
How to get the update
- Confirm your Firefox version. Open the Firefox menu, go to Help → About Firefox, and check that you are on version 115 or newer. Flagfox 6.2.6 is built for Firefox 115+.
- Let Firefox update it automatically. If you installed Flagfox from AMO, Firefox checks for add-on updates on its own schedule. Once Mozilla has approved 6.2.6, it will appear as a pending update.
- Force a manual check if you don't want to wait. Open the Add-ons Manager (Ctrl+Shift+A on Windows/Linux, Cmd+Shift+A on macOS), select Flagfox, and use the gear menu to check for updates. If the new version is approved, it will download and install.
- Or download it directly from AMO. Search for "Flagfox" on addons.mozilla.org and use the install button on the listing page. This is also the route to take if you are installing Flagfox for the first time.
Expected result: the Add-ons Manager shows Flagfox at version 6.2.6, and the extension's options page opens normally.
What to expect if the update isn't there yet
The blog post is explicit that availability depends on Mozilla's review. If AMO still lists an older version, the approval simply hasn't happened yet — there is no separate download link on the blog to use as a workaround. Check the AMO listing again later rather than looking for a mirror.
What changed in 6.2.6
The changelog in the announcement lists:
- IPv4 and IPv6 address location database updates for September 2026
- The options page now loads the actions list more cleanly
- Fixed keyboard handling for some buttons on the options page
- Further minor fixes and cleanups
The author also notes that the options page now appears only after it has fully loaded, which avoids a brief flash of an unloaded actions list. He adds that the page is "still ugly" and that a restyle is planned for some future release — so don't expect visual changes in this version.
Common snags
- Firefox older than 115: the update won't be offered. Update Firefox first.
- Checking immediately after reading the post: approval can lag behind the announcement. A manual check that finds nothing is normal at that stage.
- Options page behavior: if you were used to the old loading flicker, the cleaner load is the intended change, not a bug.
For release status and timing, the Flagfox blog post itself is the reference point; for the actual download, use the AMO listing.
