Where to Download Snipaste for Windows, macOS, or Linux
Updated
Download Snipaste directly from its official site, snipaste.com. The site offers Snipaste 2 for desktop on Windows, macOS, and Linux, plus a Microsoft Store version for Windows 10 and 11. All download links are on the site's Download page, along with a changelog, previous versions, and SHA-1 checksums.
Download options by platform
| Platform | Available builds |
|---|---|
| Windows (desktop) | Portable 64-bit, Portable 32-bit, Portable ARM64 |
| Windows (Microsoft Store) | Snipaste 2 via Microsoft Store (Windows 11/10) |
| macOS | Universal |
| Linux | AppImage (x86_64) |
The Windows desktop builds are portable, so you can run them without a traditional installer. The Microsoft Store listing is a separate distribution channel for Windows 10 and 11.
Older versions and verification
The Download page also links to previous versions, including Snipaste 1.16.2 builds:
- Windows Portable (64-bit) v1.16.2
- Windows Portable (32-bit) v1.16.2
- Windows XP Portable v1.16.2
- macOS Intel v1.16.2
A "More versions..." link leads to additional releases. The page also lists SHA-1 checksums, which you can use to verify that a downloaded file matches what the site published.
What you get after downloading
Snipaste is a snipping tool that also lets you pin a screenshot back onto the screen as a floating window. Per the site: download and start the application, press F1 to start snipping, then press F3 to paste it as a floating window. You can also convert text or color info in the clipboard into a floating image window, and those windows can be zoomed, rotated, flipped, made translucent, or made click-through.
Licensing note before you download
Snipaste is always free for personal use. For business use, Snipaste 1.x remains free, but starting from Snipaste 2.0 a paid license is required. The site lists PRO options: Cross-platform Desktop PRO for 1 device at $8.99, Cross-platform Desktop PRO for 3 devices at $19.99, and Microsoft Store PRO for 10 devices at $19.99. If you plan to use Snipaste 2 at work, factor in the license cost before choosing a build.
