Where to Find Canadian Orchid Shows, Sales and Fundraising Events

Updated

The Canadian Orchid Congress (COC) lists Canadian orchid shows, sales and fundraising events on its Events section at canadianorchidcongress.ca. The page shows current-month listings and includes a form for adding your event. If you run a Canadian orchid society, you can also email your show dates and information to [email protected] to have your shows, sales and events advertised on that page.

What the Events Section Covers

The COC site groups event information under Events, with these entry points:

  • Canadian Orchid Shows, Sales, Fundraising Events — the main listing of what's happening across the country
  • Planning an Orchid Show — guidance for societies organizing their own event
  • Add Your Event — a submission form for getting a listing posted

The listing page displays the current month (the site shows "Current Month november, 2026" as an example of how a month is presented), so you can check what is scheduled in the near term rather than scrolling a static archive.

How to Submit a Show, Sale or Fundraising Event

The site gives two routes, and the email route is stated explicitly for societies:

  1. Use the Add Your Event form on the Events page to create an event listing.
  2. Email the COC — the site asks all Canadian orchid societies to send show dates and information to [email protected] so their shows, sales and events can be advertised on the page.

The email instruction is addressed to societies, so if you are an individual organizer rather than a society, the form is the more direct path.

If You Are Planning an Orchid Show

The COC's own guidance on planning a show notes that planning begins a year ahead, starting with:

  • Booking the venue for the show
  • Booking the show judges

Those two items are named as the first steps, which is useful if you are working backward from a target date — venue and judges are the long-lead commitments, not the publicity.

Practical Notes

  • The COC describes itself as an association of Canadian orchid societies serving the Canadian orchid-growing public, so the event listings are Canada-focused.
  • Beyond events, the site's Orchid Information section covers conservation, native Canadian orchids, growing guides and culture sheets, pests and diseases, a Canadian orchid vendor list, and importing orchids into Canada — useful context if you are travelling to a show or buying there.
  • The site also notes the 24th World Orchid Conference and Exhibition in Dresden, Germany, March 25–29, 2026, for anyone tracking larger international dates alongside Canadian ones.

For the most current listings, check the Events page directly, since the month shown there changes with the calendar.
