Where to Find CCRL Rating Lists, Statistics, and Downloadable Games
Updated
CCRL (Computer Chess Rating Lists) publishes its rating lists, statistics, and game downloads on computerchess.org.uk. The lists are updated independently, and the links to each one sit below the Best Versions lists on the site. All games are downloadable by engine, month, or ECO code, and clicking an engine name opens its opponents, homepage links, and comparison tools.
Rating Lists and Statistics
CCRL maintains several separate rating lists rather than a single combined table:
- 40/15
- Blitz
- Chess960
- 40/2
- Archive
- Chess324
- DFRC
Each list is updated independently, so a rating or ranking in one list does not carry over to another. The links to these lists are located below the Best Versions lists.
What the statistics show
- LOS (Likelihood of Superiority): the probability that an engine outperforms the one ranked directly below it.
- Openings report: ECO statistics, draw rates, and White win percentages.
- Sorting: lists can be sorted by column.
- ELO storage: ratings are saved for engines with 100 or more games.
Downloading Games
All games are downloadable by engine, month, or ECO code. This means you can pull a specific engine's games, a single month's games, or games filtered by opening classification, depending on what you need.
Drilling Into a Single Engine
Clicking an engine name reveals:
- the opponents it faced
- homepage links
- comparison tools
This is the fastest way to move from a rating number to the underlying games and context.
How the Ratings Are Produced
Understanding the testing setup helps you interpret the numbers:
- Benchmark hardware: Intel i7-4770k.
- Calibration: Stockfish 10 is used to calibrate time controls.
- Conditions: generic books (max 12 moves) and ponder off.
- Early ratings may fluctuate, so treat newly listed engines' ratings as provisional.
- Originality: CCRL does not judge engine originality; inclusion or exclusion does not imply endorsement or rejection, and viewers must form their own opinions.
- Broader context: CCRL recommends consulting other rating lists as well.
Testers choose what and how to test — some use systematic methods, others prefer tournaments — while following general testing guidelines.
