Where to Find Interactive Fiction Competitions, Jams, and Meetings on IFWiki
Updated
IFWiki's Main Page is the starting point: the Calendar section links to a full-page calendar and an "Add an event" option, while the Event news section lists current competitions, jams, and recurring meetings with key dates. Use the calendar for a date-ordered view and Event news for status details such as results, voting deadlines, and submission due dates.
Calendar: the date-first view
The Main Page calendar block offers two entry points:
- See full-page calendar — opens the calendar as its own page, useful when you want to scan across weeks or months rather than read a short list.
- Add an event — for submitting an event that isn't listed yet.
The Main Page itself shows the current date alongside the calendar link (the captured page reads "Tuesday, October 13, 2026"), so the short list reflects what is current at the time you load it.
Event news: status and deadlines
Event news is split into two groups, and each entry carries the detail you need to decide whether an event matters to you right now.
Competitions and jams
| Event | Status shown |
|---|---|
| InkJam 2026 | Results announced: 1 September 2026 |
| IntroComp 2026 | Results announced: 12 September 2026 — first place: The Veil |
| IFComp 2026 | Voting ends: 19 October 2026 |
| ECTOCOMP 2026 | Submissions due: 31 October 2026 |
| Bare-Bones Jam 2026 | Submissions due: 31 October 2026 |
| Interactive Fiction Showcase 2026 | Submissions due: 31 December 2026 |
The pattern is consistent: finished events show their results date (and winner where known), while open events show the next hard deadline. That makes the list usable both for "what just happened" and "what can I still enter."
Meetings and conferences
- ClubFloyd — weekly meeting
- Jams hosted by the Neo-Interactives — monthly jam
- People's Republic of Interactive Fiction — monthly meeting
- Seattle IF Group — monthly meeting
- SF Bay Area Interactive Fiction Group — monthly meeting
These are recurring, so the Main Page gives cadence rather than a single date. For the actual next occurrence, follow the "See all future dates for each event" link at the bottom of the section.
Choosing the right entry point
- You want to enter something with a deadline → Event news, competitions and jams; check the due date on the entry.
- You want to attend something local or recurring → Event news, meetings and conferences, then the all-future-dates link.
- You want to see what falls in a given week or month → full-page calendar.
- Your event is missing → "Add an event" from the calendar block.
Practical notes
- Dates on the Main Page are a snapshot. The page you load shows its own current date, so always confirm a deadline against the event's own page or the full calendar before relying on it.
- The site also carries a standing notice that the wiki server was recently hacked and that you must reset your password at Special:PasswordReset before logging in. This does not affect reading event listings, but it matters if you plan to log in to add an event or edit a page.
- Adding or editing content is a separate workflow from browsing; the Main Page's editing projects (such as adding source code URLs to game pages) are announced in the Announcements block, not in Event news.
