Where to Find K-rAd Music and Download WAV Files

Updated

The official home of K-rAd is pAdK-rAd at padk-rad.com. It is the site of the Chicago-based electronic music collective founded in 1997 by Chris Grabowski, and it is where you can preview vinyl, browse releases, and download .wav files of K-rAd tracks. Use it when you want high-quality files for a personal collection; use the linked Bandcamp, SoundCloud, Beatport, or Facebook pages when you want to stream, follow releases, or buy music in another format.

What the Site Offers

The site is organized around a few clear purposes:

  • Previewing vinyl and releases before you commit to a download or purchase.
  • Downloading .wav files of tracks and albums for a custom, high-quality collection.
  • Browsing older material, including the spray-painted K-rAd CDs on the Classic page.
  • Linking out to K-rAd's Bandcamp, SoundCloud, Facebook, and Beatport pages.

The site describes itself simply: "K-rAd mAKes musiK." The featured releases listed on the home page include K1211 (with Sean Jacobi and Kevin Jacobi), K1209, Remember Steps, K1208, K1207, 127When, Dreamlogicc & K-rAd – Few Days, Hot Legged Beauty, K1206, Build Time, K1203, K1202, Rococo Tracks Whipper (HI-FI), HI-FI, and K1201.

How to Get the WAV Files

  1. Go to padk-rad.com.
  2. Open the .WAVS page, which lists tracks and albums available as .wav files.
  3. Preview the vinyl and releases on the site to decide what you want.
  4. Download the .wav files you've chosen and add them to your collection.

Expected result: you end up with high-quality WAV files of the K-rAd tracks and albums you selected.

Common snag: the home page lists many releases by catalog-style names (K1201 through K1211, plus titled releases), so it helps to note which ones you want before opening the .WAVS page rather than browsing blind.

If You Want to Buy or Stream Instead

The site points to several external destinations, each suited to a different need:

Destination Best for
Bandcamp Purchasing K-rAd music in whatever format you prefer
SoundCloud Streaming and listening online
Beatport Electronic music marketplace listings
Facebook Following the collective and staying in tune with releases

If your goal is simply to listen, start with SoundCloud or Bandcamp. If your goal is to own files, the .WAVS page on the official site is the direct route, with Bandcamp as the alternative for buying in your preferred format.

Checking Older Releases

The Classic page covers the older spray-painted K-rAd CDs. Visit it if you're interested in the collective's earlier physical releases rather than the current WAV catalog.
