Where to Find KNUST Colleges, Departments and Programmes on knust.edu.gh

Updated

The Academics section of knust.edu.gh is the main entry point for this information. From the top navigation, open Academics, then choose Colleges to see the individual colleges, or Departments & Programmes to browse academic departments and the programmes they offer. The same menu also links to the School of Graduate Studies, the Institute of Distance Learning, and Affiliate Institutions.

Colleges Listed Under Academics

The Colleges page presents the university's colleges as separate entries. According to the site navigation, the listed colleges are:

  • College of Science
  • College of Engineering
  • College of Art & Built Environment
  • College of Agric & Natural Resources
  • College of Health Sciences
  • College of Humanities & Social Sciences

Selecting a college takes you to that college's own section, where you can continue toward its departments and programmes. The same six colleges also appear in the top-bar quick links, so you can reach them without opening the Academics menu first.

Departments and Programmes

Use Academics → Departments & Programmes when you want the full list of academic departments rather than a college-by-college view. This page is the better starting point if you already know the subject area you are looking for and want to confirm which department teaches it and what programmes are attached.

A practical approach:

  1. Open Departments & Programmes and scan for the department name.
  2. Note the college it belongs to, since college pages carry additional context about the faculty and its offerings.
  3. Cross-check the programme against the Fees Schedule for the relevant academic year if cost matters to your decision.

Graduate, Distance and Affiliate Study

Three further entries sit in the same Academics menu and cover study routes outside the standard undergraduate college listing:

Entry What it covers
School of Graduate Studies Graduate-level study and related programme information
Institute of Distance Learning Distance and flexible learning options
Affiliate Institutions Institutions affiliated with KNUST

The Affiliate Institutions page is the place to check whether a particular institution is affiliated with the university, rather than assuming from its name alone.

Related Pages Worth Checking

  • Fees: the site publishes fees schedules by academic year, including 2026/2027, 2025/2026, 2024/2025, 2023/2024 and 2022/2023. Use the schedule for the year you are applying to.
  • Academic Calendar: separate pages exist for 2025/2026, 2024/2025 and 2023/2024, useful for confirming semester timing.
  • Semester Registrations and Open Educational Resources under Academic Services, for enrolled students and course materials.
  • Admissions: the top bar includes Apply Now and Check Admissions Status, which is where programme choice connects to an actual application.

If a programme you expect does not appear under a college, check Departments & Programmes and the Affiliate Institutions page before concluding it is not offered — some routes are listed outside the main college structure.
