Where to Find MYRA Nominee Lists and Past Winners
Updated
The Minnesota Youth Reading Awards (MYRA) site organizes nominee lists and winners by award and by year. To find a specific list, go to myrahome.org and choose the award you want — Maud Hart Lovelace (MHL) or Star of the North (SOTN) — then open the year you need from that award's menu. Each award has separate pages for current nominees, winners, and an archive of all past nominees.
The two awards and their page structure
MYRA runs two "read and vote" book award programs. Each has its own set of pages, so the first step is always to pick the right award.
| Award | Nominee pages | Winner pages | Archive |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maud Hart Lovelace (MHL) | 2027 nominees, 2026 nominees, 2025 nominees, 2024 nominees, 2023 nominees, 2022 nominees, 2021 nominees | 2026 winners, 2025 winners, 2024 winners, 2023 winners | All Past MHL Nominees |
| Star of the North (SOTN) | 2027 nominees, 2026 nominees, 2025 nominees, 2024 nominees, 2023 nominees, 2022 nominees, 2021 nominees | 2026 winners, 2025 winners, 2024 winners, 2023 winners | All Past SOTN Nominees |
A few things this structure tells you:
- Nominee lists run ahead of the award year. Lists for 2027 are already posted alongside the 2026 lists, so the site carries both the current voting cycle and the next one.
- Winners are posted per year, not merged into the nominee pages. If you want to know which title won, open the winners page for that year rather than the nominee list.
- Older years are consolidated. For anything before 2021, use the "All Past MHL Nominees" or "All Past SOTN Nominees" archive page instead of looking for a year-specific page.
Finding the current winners and announcement
The homepage announces the 2026 winners and links to a recording of the 2026 MYRA Announcement Event. If you want the result plus the context of how it was presented, start there; if you only need the list, the year-specific winners pages are faster.
Related pages worth knowing
- About MHL Award and About SOTN Award explain what each award is and how it works — useful before you interpret a list.
- Volunteer with MHL / SOTN and Suggest MHL Title / Suggest SOTN Title are the routes for getting involved or proposing a book.
- Member Resources and Join MYRA cover voting privileges and member materials; the homepage states that one site membership gives voting access for both awards, plus member-only resources and a summer packet of posters and bookmarks.
Common sticking points
- Wrong award. MHL and SOTN have parallel but separate lists; a title on one will not appear on the other.
- Confusing nominee year with award year. The 2027 nominees are already published, so check the heading on the page rather than assuming the newest list is the one being voted on now.
- Looking for pre-2021 years individually. They are only in the archive pages.
For anything not covered on the site, the homepage lists a contact form and the address [email protected] for volunteer inquiries.
