Where to Find News, Events and Election Information on the Nisg̱a’a Lisims Government Website
Updated
On nisgaanation.ca, news, events and election information are all reachable from the homepage. Recent announcements and event notices appear in the News section, upcoming activities are listed in the Cultural & Events Calendar, and elections are organized as a service area alongside Citizenship, Education, Housing and Language. From the homepage, scroll past the welcome message or use the site navigation to reach each section.
News: announcements and event notices
The News section mixes government announcements with event notices. Items visible on the homepage include:
| Date | Item |
|---|---|
| 1 Oct | Service BC | Mobile Service Centre Event |
| 3 Jul | Nisga’a Nation Climate Leadership Plan |
| 15 Oct | Information Sharing | Scottie Resources Survey | Land & Resources |
| 15 Oct | KSM Mining Inc., Cambria Gold Mines, and Nations Royalty | Dinner and project updates |
| 13 Oct | Two Elections, two votes: Why both matter for Nisga’a Schools | SD92 – Derek Azak |
| 9 Oct | WSN October 2026 |
A View all news link follows the list, which is the entry point for older items. Note that some entries are event notices rather than pure news — the Service BC mobile centre item is an example — so check the item itself for time and location details.
Cultural & Events Calendar
The Cultural & Events Calendar is the dedicated place for upcoming events. On the homepage it may show "There are no featured events at this time," with a View all events link to the full calendar. If the featured slot is empty, go straight to that link rather than assuming nothing is scheduled.
Elections
Elections appear as a service area in the homepage services list (Services: Calendar, Citizenship, Education, Emergency Management, Housing, Language, Nisga’a Societies, Elections, Sayt-K’ilim-Goot). Election coverage also surfaces in News — the SD92 item on "Two Elections, two votes" concerns Nisga’a Schools and shows how school board elections are reported. For official election information, start from the Elections service entry; for context and updates, check the related News items.
Practical tips
- Start at the homepage and scroll. The welcome message ("Aam Wil bakwsiM̓") sits at the top; the services list, news and calendar follow below.
- Use the navigation for direct access to Services, News and the Calendar rather than scrolling each time.
- Check both places for events. Some event notices are published under News, while the calendar holds the event listings; an empty featured slot does not mean an empty calendar.
- Follow the "View all" links to see items beyond those featured on the homepage.
