Where to Find the Latest Apple Firmware Versions on The Apple Wiki
Updated
The Apple Wiki's Main Page has a Firmware Status section that lists the latest public and beta firmware versions for Apple's product lines, with version numbers and build identifiers. It is the fastest place to check current firmware at a glance; for per-device detail, follow the product-line links from that section.
What the Firmware Status section shows
The Main Page groups firmware into two blocks:
- Latest Public Firmware — the current release versions for each product line.
- Latest Beta Firmware — the current developer/public beta versions.
Each entry pairs a version number with a build identifier in parentheses, for example 27.0 (24J361) or 27.2 beta 2 (24K5093g). The build string is what you need when matching a firmware to a specific device or tool, since the same version number can ship as different builds.
Product lines covered
The Main Page's product index lists the hardware families the wiki tracks:
| Category | Product lines |
|---|---|
| Home & wearables | Apple TV, HomePod, Apple Vision, Apple Watch |
| Tablets | iPad, iPad Air, iPad Pro, iPad mini |
| Phones | iPhone |
| Computers | Mac Desktops, MacBooks |
Firmware entries on the Main Page are shown per product line rather than per individual model, so a single row may cover several devices that share a release.
How to go from the Main Page to a specific device
- Open the Main Page and find the Firmware Status section.
- Note the version and build for your product line under either Latest Public Firmware or Latest Beta Firmware.
- Use the product-line link (for example, iPhone or iPad) to reach the detailed firmware pages, where versions are broken down further.
- If your goal is jailbreaking rather than updating, use the Jailbreak page instead — it lists devices, firmware versions, and the tools that work with them.
Reading the jailbreak table
The Main Page also carries a jailbreak compatibility table organized by OS version, from iOS 26 down through iOS 10 and older. Each row names the tools available for that version — for example, iOS 18 lists Dopamine and palera1n, while iOS 15 lists Dopamine, Fugu15, XinaA15, palera1n, and others. Separate rows cover watchOS, tvOS, and older iOS releases.
This table answers a different question than the firmware list: the firmware section tells you what is current, while the jailbreak table tells you what is supported for a given version. A device on the newest firmware will usually appear in the newest row, or not at all if no tool supports it yet.
Practical notes
- The wiki is a community project, so entries depend on contributors keeping them current. Cross-check the build number against Apple's own release notes if you need certainty before updating or downgrading.
- Version and build numbers on the Main Page reflect what the community has recorded, not a guarantee about your specific model — always confirm against your device's own model identifier.
- The Main Page also links to a timeline and a community portal, which are useful if you want to see what changed recently or request an update to a stale entry.
