Where to Find YAMS Installation, Configuration, and Support Resources

Updated

YAMS (Yet Another Media Server) is a bash-script-based media server installer, and its official site at yams.media is the starting point for everything: installation, configuration, advanced setup, FAQs, and community help. The site's navigation splits into Home, Install, Configure, Advanced, FAQs, Donate, Contact, Forum, and Discord, with source code mirrored on GitHub, GitLab, and a self-hosted Git site. Use the table below to jump to the right resource for your task.

How to Choose Your Entry Point

  • First-time installer: Start with the Home page for the overview, then follow the Install section. Keep the FAQs open in a second tab — most first-run snags are covered there.
  • Already installed, now tuning: Go straight to Configure; move to Advanced only if the basic configuration doesn't cover your setup.
  • Stuck or something broken: Check the FAQs first, then ask in Discord for quick back-and-forth or the Forum if you want a searchable thread others can benefit from.
  • Want to inspect or contribute to the code: The project is mirrored on GitHub, GitLab, and its own Git host, so pick whichever you already use. The GitHub mirror (github.com/rogsme/yams) is the most familiar entry point for most users.

Practical Notes

The site is available in English and French (🇫🇷 FR toggle in the navigation), so French-speaking users can switch languages from any page. Because YAMS is distributed as an installation script rather than a packaged app, the Install and Configure pages are the two you'll return to most; the Advanced and FAQ pages fill in the gaps when the defaults don't fit your hardware or network.

For anything not covered on the site, Discord is the fastest route to other YAMS users, while the Forum and the Git repositories preserve answers and changes for later reference.
