Where to Park for Weekend Masses at Saint Patrick's Basilica
Updated
Parishioners attending weekend Masses at Saint Patrick's Basilica can park free of charge in the new HEC building. Enter the lot from de la Gauchetière and follow the signs toward the exit at the front of the Basilica. After Mass, ask one of the parish employees for the coupon that lets you exit the HEC parking area.
When the Parking Applies
The arrangement is tied to weekend Masses, so it covers the Saturday 5 p.m. Mass of Anticipation and the Sunday Masses at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., and 5 p.m. If you are visiting the Basilica for prayer or weekday Mass instead, this note does not confirm free HEC parking for those times.
Step by Step
- Enter from de la Gauchetière. Drive to the HEC building entrance on that street rather than looking for a separate Basilica lot.
- Follow the signs pointing toward the exit at the front of the Basilica, which is where you leave the car.
- Attend Mass.
- Ask an employee for the coupon before you leave. The coupon is what allows you to exit the HEC parking without paying.
- Exit using the coupon at the lot's payment point.
Common Snags
- Leaving without the coupon. The free exit depends on the coupon, so collect it at the end of Mass rather than driving straight out.
- Arriving for a non-weekend visit. The published note is specific to weekend Masses; do not assume the same free access applies at other times.
- Entering from the wrong side. Use the de la Gauchetière entrance and the signed route to the Basilica front.
While You're There
Weekend confessions are heard after all Masses. The Basilica is open for visitation and prayer Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the 5 p.m. Mass. If you are hearing-impaired, bring your own digital receiver and earphones and tune to 88.1 FM for the broadcast of the Mass.
