Where to Read Copperas Cove Leader Press Coverage of the New VA Clinic

Updated

The Copperas Cove Leader Press covered the new VA clinic in a staff-reported article titled "VA breaks ground on Copperas Cove clinic," published Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, and credited to Lynette Sowell-Stevens. The piece centers on the Oct. 8 groundbreaking and the start of site work. You can reach it through the news section of coveleaderpress.com, where it appears alongside other recent local headlines.

What the Article Covers

Based on the published excerpt and headline, the VA clinic story includes:

  • The groundbreaking event held Oct. 8, with local officials on hand — the excerpt notes Copperas Cove Mayor Pro Tem Vonya Hart among those tossing dirt at the ceremony.
  • Site work already underway on the new clinic in Copperas Cove.
  • Reporting credit to Lynette Sowell-Stevens, writing for the Cove Leader-Press.

The available excerpt stops at the start of the site-work description, so the full article is the place to look for further detail on the project.

How to Find It and Related Coverage on the Site

  1. Go to coveleaderpress.com.
  2. Open the News section, where the VA clinic article is listed with its Oct. 9, 2026 date and headline.
  3. Scan the same section for related local government items, which the site groups near this story — for example, coverage of the City Council's review of the August 2026 water emergency response and the citizens forum that included councilmember recall opinions.

Because the site lists articles by headline and date rather than by topic page in the material reviewed, the headline itself — "VA breaks ground on Copperas Cove clinic" — is the most reliable way to locate the piece.

What to Expect From the Site's Local Coverage

The Leader-Press carries staff-bylined reporting on Copperas Cove civic life: city council meetings, emergency response reviews, candidate forums ahead of early voting, and county party events. Sports coverage appears in a separate section. If you are following the VA clinic specifically, check the News section around council and groundbreaking announcements, since that is where the paper places municipal and development stories.
