Which Art Magazines Are on Artists Network and How to Get Them

Updated

Artists Network lists four magazine titles in its own description of the site, and its shop currently surfaces three of them as new issues: Artists Magazine, Watercolor Artist, and Southwest Art. You can get them as single digital or print issues through the site's product listings, or through a subscription; the site has a dedicated Subscriptions page and "Join Now" checkout links, so subscription is the intended path if you want ongoing issues rather than one copy.

The magazines and what each covers

The current new-product listings show a clear split in editorial focus, which is the fastest way to decide which title fits you.

Magazine Format shown in current listing Content focus, based on the issue description
Artists Magazine Digital edition (November/December 2026) Broad fine-art practice and career visibility: competition winners ("Artists to Watch"), working methods, creativity challenges, artist profiles
Watercolor Artist Digital edition (Winter 2027) Watercolor-specific technique: composition and notan, texture effects like crackle paste, artist interviews and features
Southwest Art Print edition (October/November 2026) Collecting and the art market: museum and corporate collections, auction works, annual Western and Native American art coverage
The fourth title Not itemized on the homepage Named in the site's own description of four magazine titles, but the homepage does not break it out

The practical read: Watercolor Artist is the technique-driven choice for watercolor painters, Artists Magazine is the general-practice and exposure choice, and Southwest Art is the one to pick if your interest is collecting, Western art, or market coverage rather than studio instruction.

Digital vs. print: what the listings actually tell you

The homepage labels each new issue with its format, and the two are not interchangeable in the listings:

  • Digital editions (Artists Magazine, Watercolor Artist) are described with full issue highlights and a "Get your copy today!" prompt, suggesting immediate access after purchase.
  • Print editions (Southwest Art) are sold as physical copies of the Collector's Issue.

Choose digital if you want the issue now and don't need shelf copies; choose print for Southwest Art's collector-oriented issue if you want the physical magazine. The site does not state whether a subscription includes both formats, so check the Subscriptions page before assuming a subscription covers print and digital together.

How to get an issue or subscribe

  1. For a single issue: go to the New Products section of the homepage and open the listing for the specific title and format you want, then add it to your cart. Expect to see the issue's contents and featured artists on that page so you can confirm it's the right one.
  2. For ongoing delivery: use the Subscriptions link (artistsnetwork.com/subscribe/) or one of the Join Now checkout links on the site. Checkout runs through Stripe.
  3. Verify before paying: confirm which titles and formats the subscription includes, and whether back issues are part of it. The homepage does not spell this out.

Beyond the magazines

If your goal is learning rather than reading, the site also offers over 2,000 hours of streaming video courses and 500+ products, plus free articles and technique pieces (for example, atmospheric perspective paint-alongs and portrait demonstrations). A magazine subscription and the video library are separate offerings, so decide which one matches how you actually want to learn.

One more entry point worth knowing: the Over 60 Art Competition is open for entries with a final deadline of October 30, 2026, and winners are featured in Artists Magazine — relevant if seeing your work published is part of why you're interested in the magazine at all.
