Which browsers does Swarm Simulator support?

Updated

Swarm Simulator does not support Safari. If the game fails to load or misbehaves in Safari, switch to Chrome or Firefox — those are the browsers the game points players to when they have trouble.

What the game says about browser support

The site's own notice is short and direct: Swarm Simulator does not support the Safari browser, and players who have trouble should try Chrome or Firefox. There is no separate list of minimum versions or other supported browsers on the page, so treat Chrome and Firefox as the recommended path and Safari as unsupported.

If the game still won't load after switching

A browser change fixes the Safari case, but the game also surfaces two other load failures that are worth checking before you assume the browser is at fault:

  • Saved game won't load (storage blocked). The game needs cookies or local storage to keep your progress. If your browser blocks third-party cookies, you may see an error asking you to make sure the site has permission to set cookies/localstorage. Allowing storage for the site is the fix.
  • Saved game won't load (bug). In some cases the game reports a bug and shows your saved game data, with instructions to save that data and import it through the options screen once the bug is fixed. Keep that text — it's your restore path.
  • Saving fails. If saving fails, the game shows the data it tried to save and notes you can import it through the options screen.

Quick checklist

Symptom What to try
Game won't load in Safari Open it in Chrome or Firefox
Error about cookies/localstorage Allow the site to set cookies/local storage; unblock third-party cookies
Error loading a saved game (bug) Copy and keep the displayed save data; import it via the options screen later
Error saving Copy the displayed save data; import it through the options screen

A note on the April Fools content

The page also contains an April Fools joke about renaming the game "Kitten Klicker" and requiring graphics. It is explicitly labeled as a joke on the following day, and the page explains how to remove the extra kitten styling through the options screen ("Clear all extra styling/graphics"). It has nothing to do with browser support — don't mistake it for a real requirement.
