Which classic Mac and NeXT operating system versions are available on Infinite Mac?
Updated
Infinite Mac hosts a browsable collection of classic Macintosh and NeXT system releases, from the original 1984 System 1.0 through Mac OS X and NeXTStep releases of the early 2000s. Each release runs inside a virtual machine in your browser, and most entries include an "Infinite HD" disk with representative software from that era. You can pick a version directly, or use the custom option to choose your own machine and disks.
How the collection is organized
Releases are grouped by year (1984, 1985, 1986, and so on) and can be filtered by category:
| Category | Count |
|---|---|
| All | 81 |
| Notable | 32 |
| A/UX | 11 |
| NeXT | 15 |
| Mac OS X | 6 |
Each entry lists a release date, a short description of what the version introduced, and two actions: Customize... and Run.

What else is in the collection
Beyond the entries listed above, Infinite Mac covers System Software, Mac OS, A/UX, Mac OS X, and NeXTStep releases spanning the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s — 81 releases in total, with 32 marked as notable. The site also offers an "Infinite HD" disk with representative software from each era, and a custom option for choosing your own machine and disks.
Running a version and moving files
Select any release and choose Run to boot it in a browser-based virtual machine. On some operating systems you can import and export files and disk images using drag and drop, and mount virtual CD-ROMs. The welcome screen inside each machine explains the specifics for that system.
