Which languages does Tanda support for voice logging?
Tanda's voice logging works in ten languages: Arabic, Dutch, English, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and Turkish. You speak an expense in any of these, and Tanda sorts it into a category and adds it to your ledger. But there's a catch worth knowing before you rely on it: on-device speech depends on the languages your phone has installed, so a language Tanda supports may still not work if your phone doesn't have it set up.
The ten supported languages
| Language | Voice logging | Two-way voice (ask and hear back) |
|---|---|---|
| Arabic | Yes | Yes |
| Dutch | Yes | Yes |
| English | Yes | Yes |
| French | Yes | Yes |
| German | Yes | Yes |
| Indonesian | Yes | Yes |
| Italian | Yes | Yes |
| Portuguese | Yes | Yes |
| Spanish | Yes | Yes |
| Turkish | Yes | Yes |
The two-way part matters. Tanda isn't just listening — you can ask a question out loud and hear the answer back in the same language you asked. Ask "How much on food this month?" and it answers with the figure. So the language list applies to both directions, not just dictation.
The phone setting that decides whether it works
Tanda states plainly that on-device speech depends on the languages your phone has installed. That means the ten-language list is Tanda's capability, not a guarantee for your specific device. If your phone only has English speech installed, Tanda's Arabic or Turkish voice mode may not function even though Tanda supports it.
Before you commit to voice logging in a non-English language, check your phone's language and speech settings and confirm that language is installed for speech recognition. This is the single most common reason someone expects a supported language to work and finds it doesn't.
What this means for how you log
- If your language is installed on your phone: speak the expense, Tanda categorizes it and adds it up. No typing.
- If it isn't installed: add the language in your phone's settings first, or fall back to a language your phone does have.
- Offline: logging works with no internet at all, so voice logging in a supported, installed language doesn't require a connection. Sign-in and crash reports still use the internet.
A practical check before you start
- Open your phone's language and speech settings.
- Confirm the language you want to log in is installed for speech recognition.
- Open Tanda and try one spoken expense in that language.
- If it logs and categorizes correctly, two-way voice should work in the same language too.
If step 3 fails, the problem is almost always the phone's installed languages rather than Tanda's support list — fix that first before assuming the feature is broken.
