Which npckc games can I play for free in my browser?
Updated
Several npckc games run directly in a browser at no cost. On the npckc itch.io page, the titles marked Play in browser or Run in browser can be opened and played without downloading a file, and none of those entries show a price. That covers short interactive fiction, small tools, and a few experimental pieces. Paid titles on the same page — such as A YEAR OF SPRINGS Fan Pack ($3.99), TRUE LOVE'S CURSE ($3), A TAVERN BEFORE TEA ($2.99), A TAVERN FOR TEA ($2.99), snack machine change ($2.99), Marron's Day ($9.99) — are separate downloads or purchases, not browser plays.
Browser-playable titles listed on the page
These entries carry a "Play in browser" or "Run in browser" label:
| Title | What it is |
|---|---|
| Random Genre Masher | A tool for when you can't think of a genre for your next game |
| mew's under the truck | Interactive fiction about gaming rumours of the past |
| you are dough | Interactive fiction — become bread |
| stuck in the airport | Adventure: stranded after a flight cancellation |
| wednesday night (you put on your mask and step outside) | Adventure |
| ghostfriend | Help your ghost friend leave this realm |
| gb pixel art: reading adventure | A Game Boy-compatible background drawn for GB Pixel Art Jam 2023 |
| Dress Up Template for Ren'Py | Make a dress-up minigame in Ren'Py |
A few more titles on the page — including The Servers Are Shutting Down in 24 Hours but My Pull Rate's Been Set to 0.0001%?! and 2/29 — also show "Play in browser," so the in-browser set is larger than the table above.
How to tell browser games from downloads
- Look for the label. "Play in browser" or "Run in browser" appears on the project card. If you see it, you can start playing from the page itself.
- No price shown = no purchase needed for those entries. The browser-playable items above list no price, unlike the paid titles that show a dollar amount.
- Paid titles are downloads or purchases. Marron's Day, for example, is described as a Game Boy and PC adventure, and the fan pack and visual novels carry prices — those are not browser plays.
What to expect from the free browser games
These are small, short-form pieces rather than full commercial releases. Random Genre Masher is a generator tool, not a game. mew's under the truck and you are dough are brief interactive fiction. ghostfriend, stuck in the airport, and wednesday night are short adventures. If you want a longer visual novel or a Game Boy-style adventure, those are the paid entries instead.
If you only want to sample npckc's style before buying anything, start with the browser-playable interactive fiction — they load instantly and need no install.
