Which platforms does Spicy Lyrics support?
Updated
Spicy Lyrics works with the desktop Spotify app on Windows, macOS, and Linux. It is not a mobile or web player solution, and it does not run as a standalone app. Because it is a Spicetify extension, it requires Spicetify to be installed on the same desktop machine, and it is added through the Spicetify Marketplace.
Platform support at a glance
| Platform | Supported? | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| Windows desktop Spotify | Yes | Spicetify installed, then Spicy Lyrics from the Spicetify Marketplace |
| macOS desktop Spotify | Yes | Same as above |
| Linux desktop Spotify | Yes | Same as above |
| Spotify mobile app (iOS/Android) | No | Not supported — Spicetify is a desktop tool |
| Spotify web player | No | Not supported |
| Standalone app | No | Spicy Lyrics is an extension, not a separate program |
Why the platform list is this short
Spicy Lyrics replaces Spotify's built-in lyrics view with its own layout, word-by-word sync, and customization settings. That kind of replacement depends on modifying the desktop Spotify client, which is what Spicetify does. The mobile and web players don't expose the same surface, so the extension has nowhere to run there.
The practical consequence: if your only Spotify device is a phone or a browser tab, Spicy Lyrics isn't an option for you. If you listen on a desktop or laptop, you're covered on all three major operating systems.
What the setup looks like
The site describes three steps, with no account needed up front:
- Install Spicetify on your desktop Spotify app.
- Add Spicy Lyrics from the Spicetify Marketplace.
- Play a song and watch the lyrics sync word by word.
Signing in is optional and only matters if you want a lyrics profile — a public page showing the songs you've contributed lyrics for, view counts, pronouns, links, and colors. Browsing and using the lyrics view itself doesn't require it.
Common snags to expect
- Installing on the wrong client. Spicetify targets the desktop app. If you try to follow the steps against the web player or a phone, nothing will apply.
- Skipping Spicetify. There's no separate installer for Spicy Lyrics; the Marketplace route is the only one described.
- Expecting it on every device. Installing on one computer doesn't carry over to another machine or to mobile — each desktop install is its own setup.
If your setup matches the desktop requirement, the install itself is quick; the platform check is the main gate to clear first.
