Which vector file formats can Vector Express convert?
Updated
Vector Express accepts ten vector input formats: AI, CDR, DWG, DXF, EPS, HPGL, PDF, PLT, PS, and SVG. If your file is in one of these formats, you can drop it onto the site to convert it. If your format is not on this list, the site does not indicate support for it.
Supported input formats
The formats listed on the Vector Express homepage are:
| Format | Typical origin |
|---|---|
| AI | Adobe Illustrator artwork |
| CDR | CorelDRAW drawings |
| DWG | CAD drawings |
| DXF | CAD exchange files |
| EPS | Encapsulated PostScript vector graphics |
| HPGL | Hewlett-Packard plotter language |
| Portable Document Format (vector content) | |
| PLT | Plotter files |
| PS | PostScript |
| SVG | Scalable Vector Graphics |
What this means in practice
- Conversions run between these formats. The site describes the listed formats as the ones you can convert from, so a file in any of them can be used as the starting point for a conversion.
- The list is the boundary. Vector Express does not advertise support for formats outside these ten. If your file is, for example, a raster image or a format not named above, there is no indication it will be processed.
- PDF and PS are included. Even though these are often thought of as document or print formats, they appear in the supported list, which matters if your source file is a PDF containing vector artwork.
How to check before you convert
- Confirm your file's extension matches one of the ten formats above.
- Open the Vector Express site and drop the file into the upload area.
- If the file is accepted, proceed with the conversion; if the format is unsupported, the site gives no indication it will handle it, so you would need to convert it to a supported format first using another tool.
The site also offers an API, with details available through its documentation and pricing page.
