Why Boomy Says It Doesn't Work Properly Without JavaScript
Updated
Boomy is a browser-based generative music app, so its interface, audio engine, and playback controls are built with JavaScript. If JavaScript is disabled, blocked, or fails to load, the page cannot render its actual content and instead shows the fallback message: "We're sorry but boomy doesn't work properly without JavaScript enabled. Please enable it to continue." This is an environment requirement, not a sign that your account, network, or the Boomy service itself is broken.
What the message actually means
The text you see is a <noscript>-style fallback. It appears when the browser either:
- Has JavaScript turned off globally or for boomy.com
- Is running an extension that blocks scripts
- Failed to download or execute the JavaScript bundle (network filtering, corporate proxy, stale cache)
In all of these cases, the server delivered the page shell, but the client-side app never started. Boomy's music generation and playback happen in the browser, so without JavaScript there is nothing to interact with.
How to fix it
1. Enable JavaScript in your browser
- Chrome / Edge: Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → JavaScript → Allowed. Make sure boomy.com is not in the "Not allowed" list.
- Firefox: Type
about:configin the address bar, search forjavascript.enabled, and set it totrue. Also check Settings → Privacy & Security → Permissions → Enable JavaScript. - Safari: Settings → Safari → Advanced → turn off any content blocker for the site, and ensure JavaScript is enabled under the website's permissions.
After changing the setting, reload boomy.com.
2. Check extensions and blockers
Ad blockers, script blockers (uBlock Origin, NoScript, Privacy Badger), and some antivirus browser plugins can block Boomy's scripts even when JavaScript is enabled globally. Try:
- Disabling extensions for boomy.com
- Opening the site in a private/incognito window with extensions off
- Testing in a different browser
3. Clear cache and cookies
A stale or corrupted cached script can prevent the app from loading. Clear site data for boomy.com, then reload.
4. Try a different network or browser
Corporate networks, school filters, and some VPNs strip or block JavaScript files. Switch to a different connection or a standard up-to-date browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari) to rule this out.
What it is not
This message does not mean:
- Your Boomy account is suspended or banned
- Boomy's servers are down
- You need to pay or log in to access the site
- Your internet connection is broken
Those issues produce different errors. The JavaScript notice is specifically about the browser's ability to run scripts.
Quick verification
After enabling JavaScript and reloading:
- The page should render the Boomy interface instead of the fallback text.
- You should be able to start or interact with a track.
- If the message persists, open your browser's developer console (F12 → Console) and look for script errors — these often point to a specific blocked resource or extension.
If the message still appears after trying a clean browser profile with no extensions, the block is likely happening at the network level (proxy, firewall, or ISP filter), and you would need to adjust that layer or use a different connection.
