Why Does NoisyLoop Say My Browser Is Not Supported?

Updated

NoisyLoop shows that message because the site requires JavaScript to run, and your browser either has JavaScript disabled or is too old to support it. The page itself contains no static fallback content — the only text visible in that state is the notice that your browser is unsupported because JavaScript is disabled. To use NoisyLoop, you need a browser with JavaScript enabled.

What triggers the message

The site's own fallback text states the condition directly: "Unfortunately, we do not support your browser as Javascript is disabled." That means the check is about JavaScript availability, not about your operating system, your internet connection, or your location.

Two common situations produce it:

  • JavaScript is turned off in your browser settings, or blocked by an extension.
  • The browser is old enough that it doesn't support the JavaScript features the site relies on — in practice, this looks the same as JavaScript being disabled.

How to fix it

1. Enable JavaScript

In most browsers, JavaScript is on by default, so this step matters mainly if you or a tool turned it off.

  • Chrome / Edge: Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → JavaScript → set to "Sites can use JavaScript."
  • Firefox: Type about:config in the address bar, search for javascript.enabled, and make sure it's set to true.
  • Safari: Settings → Security (or Websites → JavaScript) and allow JavaScript for the site.

After changing the setting, reload the page. The expected result is that the notice disappears and the soundscape interface loads.

2. Check for blockers

Ad blockers, script blockers, and privacy extensions can disable JavaScript on a per-site basis even when the browser setting is on. If NoisyLoop still fails after enabling JavaScript globally, allow the site in your blocker's settings or pause the blocker for this page, then reload.

3. Switch to a current browser

If JavaScript is already enabled and unblocked, the browser itself is likely the problem. Try a recent version of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari. An up-to-date browser is the simplest way to rule out missing feature support.

What you can't do

There is no alternative path on the page. NoisyLoop does not serve a static version of its soundscapes, so there's no way to play them without a JavaScript-capable browser. If you can't enable JavaScript — for example, on a locked-down work machine — the site won't work for you in that environment.
