Why does Poolsuite say JavaScript is required?
Updated
Poolsuite (poolsuite.net) shows the message "We're sorry but Poolsuite doesn't work properly without JavaScript enabled. Please enable it to continue." because the site is built as a JavaScript application. When your browser blocks or disables JavaScript, it can only load the empty page shell — not the radio player, station list, or any interactive content. To use Poolsuite, JavaScript must be enabled and able to run in your browser.
What the message actually means
The text is not an error from Poolsuite's servers. It is a fallback notice that appears in the page's HTML before the app loads. If JavaScript runs normally, this notice is replaced by the actual site. If you see it and nothing else, your browser never executed the app.
In short:
- JavaScript enabled and working → the notice is hidden and Poolsuite loads.
- JavaScript disabled or blocked → the notice stays visible and the site appears broken.
Common reasons JavaScript is blocked
| Cause | What's happening |
|---|---|
| JavaScript turned off in browser settings | The browser refuses to run any scripts |
| An extension blocking scripts | Ad blockers, privacy tools, or script blockers stop the app from loading |
| Strict browser privacy mode | Some hardened modes disable or limit JavaScript by default |
| Corporate or network policy | A managed device or network may restrict scripts |
| Page loaded without scripts | Viewing a cached or text-only version of the page |
How to fix it
- Check your browser's JavaScript setting. In most browsers this lives under Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → JavaScript. Make sure it is allowed.
- Allow JavaScript for poolsuite.net specifically. If you block scripts globally, add poolsuite.net as an exception.
- Disable script-blocking extensions for this site. Turn off ad blockers, privacy extensions, or script managers on poolsuite.net, then reload.
- Try a standard browsing mode. If you're in a strict or hardened privacy mode, switch to a normal window.
- Reload the page after making changes, since the notice only clears on a fresh load.
If it still doesn't work
- Try a different browser to rule out a browser-specific setting.
- Check whether you're on a managed network or device where scripts are restricted.
- Confirm you're on the real site at poolsuite.net (formerly Poolside FM), since the JavaScript requirement is a normal part of how it works.
Once JavaScript is running, the notice disappears and Poolsuite's summer radio interface loads as intended.
