Why Does Presence Say JavaScript Is Not Enabled, and How Do I Fix It?

Updated

Presence (presence.mrarich.com) shows "Oh no! It looks like JavaScript is not enabled in your browser. Reload" because the page is a JavaScript app: it needs your browser to run scripts before it can render anything. If scripts are blocked, disabled, or fail to load, Presence has nothing to display. Fix it by allowing JavaScript for the site (or switching to a modern browser with JavaScript on), then reloading the page.

What the message actually means

The text is not an account, login, or compatibility error. It is a fallback notice that appears when the page detects it cannot run its scripts. In practice this happens for one of a few reasons:

  • JavaScript is turned off in your browser settings.
  • A browser extension (script blocker, privacy tool, ad blocker) is blocking scripts on this site.
  • The page loaded without scripts due to a network or caching problem.
  • You are using a browser or embedded viewer that does not run JavaScript.

How to fix it

1. Enable JavaScript in your browser

Most browsers have JavaScript on by default, so this is usually only an issue if it was deliberately disabled.

  • Chrome / Edge: Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → JavaScript → make sure "Sites can use JavaScript" is selected.
  • Firefox: Type about:config in the address bar, search for javascript.enabled, and confirm it is set to true.
  • Safari: Settings → Security (or Websites → JavaScript) and allow JavaScript.

After changing the setting, return to presence.mrarich.com and reload.

2. Check extensions and blockers

If JavaScript is enabled but the message persists, a script blocker or privacy extension is the most likely cause.

  1. Open the site in a private/incognito window, which usually disables extensions by default.
  2. If the page loads there, disable extensions one at a time (or allowlist presence.mrarich.com) until it works.
  3. Reload the page after each change.

3. Reload or hard-refresh

The notice itself says "Reload." A normal refresh may reuse a broken cached copy.

  • Windows/Linux: Ctrl + Shift + R
  • macOS: Cmd + Shift + R

4. Try a modern browser

If you are viewing the page inside an in-app browser, an old browser, or a restricted webview, open the URL in a current version of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari instead.

Quick check

Symptom Likely cause Action
Message appears in every browser JavaScript disabled at OS/browser level Enable JavaScript in settings
Works in incognito, fails normally Extension blocking scripts Allowlist the site or disable the blocker
Appears once, then works after refresh Stale cache or partial load Hard-refresh the page
Appears only in an in-app viewer Viewer does not run JavaScript Open in a full browser

What to expect after fixing it

Once JavaScript runs, the fallback message disappears and the Presence interface loads, letting you use the site to unwrap presents remotely together. If the message still appears after enabling JavaScript, clearing the cache, and testing in incognito, the problem is likely on the network or hosting side rather than your browser.
