Why You're Seeing the Scaleway Maintenance Page
Updated
You're seeing the Maintenance page at maintenance.online.net because Scaleway is running a planned or ongoing maintenance window, and the normal service is temporarily unavailable. This is a deliberate placeholder page, not an error on your side. Your options are to wait for the window to end or check Scaleway's documentation and status channels for updates.
What the page actually is
maintenance.online.net is a static holding page hosted by Scaleway. When a service is taken offline for maintenance, traffic that would normally reach the service is redirected here instead of returning an error or a broken interface. The page itself carries only Scaleway's brand and links out to its main site, datacenter site, documentation, and social channels (Twitter, Slack, LinkedIn).
That tells you two things:
- The page is informational only. There is nothing to configure, log into, or fix on it.
- The links on it are the intended path to more detail, since the page itself doesn't state which service is down or when it will return.
Why you're routed here instead of the service
Maintenance pages are used when an operator wants to signal "temporarily down, on purpose" rather than let requests fail unpredictably. Typical triggers:
| Situation | What you'd experience |
|---|---|
| Planned maintenance window | Service unreachable for a defined period, page shown throughout |
| Ongoing/unplanned maintenance | Page appears without prior notice while work is in progress |
| Service-level redirect during upgrades | Only the affected service or console shows the page; other Scaleway services may work normally |
The page does not distinguish between these cases, so treat "maintenance" as the general signal: the service is intentionally paused, not broken.
What to do while you wait
- Confirm the scope. Try another Scaleway service or the main Scaleway site. If those load, the maintenance is limited to a specific service rather than the whole platform.
- Check the documentation. Follow the Documentation link on the maintenance page for service-specific notes.
- Check status channels. The Twitter and Slack links on the page are Scaleway's public channels; announcements about maintenance windows usually appear there.
- Retry later. Reload the original URL periodically. When the window closes, the redirect is removed and you'll reach the service again.
Common sticking points
- "It's been hours." The page gives no end time. Without an announcement from Scaleway, you can't tell a long window from a stalled one — rely on the status channels rather than repeated reloads.
- Bookmarks and API clients. Anything pointed at the affected hostname will receive the maintenance page, including scripts and integrations. Expect failures in automated jobs during the window and plan retries after it.
- No login or workaround exists. The page offers no bypass, and none should be assumed. If you need the service urgently, the only reliable answer is the maintenance schedule published by Scaleway.
If the page persists well beyond any announced window, treat it as worth reporting through Scaleway's support channels rather than as something you can resolve locally.
