What Can Broomkit Clean on a Mac, and Is It Safe?
Updated
Broomkit scans a Mac for reclaimable space across caches, leftovers, duplicates, and large or old files, then shows you every item with a tick box before anything moves. Nothing is deleted without asking — files go to the Trash first, and a Review and Confirm step shows the free-space impact before you proceed. It runs on macOS 14+, needs no admin password, and the trial unlocks every feature for 3 days so you can see your own numbers before paying.
What Broomkit scans and cleans
The app organizes reclaimable space into categories and reports the total it finds. On one machine shown in Broomkit's own demo, that was 84.8 GB across 16 categories. Your Mac will differ, and the app shows your numbers before you pay.
| Area | What it covers | When it unlocks |
|---|---|---|
| Smart Care | One scan producing six cards: what was found and what will run | Free |
| Disk Map | Treemap of what is actually eating space | Free |
| Performance | Live memory, CPU, disk and battery, plus a Quit button per app | Free |
| Uninstaller | Every app with its real size, filters for unused and App Store apps, leftovers listed first | Licence |
| Cleanup Manager | Every file listed with a tick box before anything moves | Free to browse |
| Reclaim · Review | Nothing erased yet; everything goes to the Trash first | Licence |
| Reclaim · Confirm | See the free-space impact before you proceed | Licence |
The categories the scan surfaces include caches, leftovers from removed apps, duplicates, and large and old files. The Uninstaller handles full app removal, listing leftovers first so you can see what an app leaves behind.
Why the cleanup is controllable
Three design choices keep you in charge of what happens:
- A tick box per file. Cleanup Manager lists every file individually. You browse, select, and deselect before anything moves.
- Trash first, not deletion. Reclaim · Review sends items to the Trash rather than erasing them. You can recover from the Trash if you change your mind.
- A confirm step with numbers. Reclaim · Confirm shows the free-space impact before you proceed, so you know what you're gaining.
Broomkit also states that no files are deleted without asking, and that it uses no admin password, no privileged helper, and no bundled software. It is notarized by Apple and Developer ID signed. You can uninstall it by dragging it to the Trash.
Trial vs licence: what you get and when
Every feature is unlocked during the trial, including Reclaim and the Uninstaller, so you can judge it on your own Mac. After 3 days, a single payment keeps it.
- Trial: $0 for 3 days, all features unlocked, no account and no card required to download.
- Licence: one-time payment of $34.95 for 1 Mac, with no subscription and no auto-renewal.
Analysis is free forever — you can scan and see what's reclaimable without paying. Reclaim unlocks with the one-time licence.
What to check before you commit
- Run the free scan first and look at your own reclaimable total. If the number is small, the licence may not be worth it for you.
- Browse Cleanup Manager during the trial and confirm the categories match what you actually want removed.
- Use the Uninstaller on one app you no longer need and check that leftovers are listed before you decide on the full licence.
- Remember the trial is 3 days — if you want to compare against your own storage over a longer period, note the deadline.
If you want a cleaner that shows you every file before it moves, sends deletions to the Trash, and charges once instead of by subscription, Broomkit's trial lets you verify all of that on your own machine before you pay.
