How Customizable Are HANDZ 3D Hand Models?
Updated
HANDZ 3D hand models are highly customizable if you get the Premium version. Premium includes Blender source files (.blend), 23 rigged hands, 76 poses, 40 objects, 22 accessories, and 19 sleeves, which the site says combine into "millions of combinations." The free version is much more limited: 2 rigged hands (male and female), 25 poses each, 4 objects, 3 sleeves, and 900 PNG files — but no source files, so you can't edit the models themselves. If your goal is to recolor, re-pose, or recombine hands for mockups and UI, Premium is the version that actually supports that.
What you can customize
Skin color and materials
The site explicitly supports any skin color you can think of, showing a range from light to dark tones plus non-human colors (green, purple, blue). This is done through material/color changes rather than swapping models, so one rigged hand can cover many looks.
Poses and hand types
- Free: 2 rigged models (male, female), 25 poses each.
- Premium: 23 rigged hands spanning male, female, chibi, alien, robot, zombie, and creature claws (pig, turtle, dragon). 76 poses total, which the site says cover all common UI hand movements and iPhone/iWatch/Samsung mockups.
Objects, accessories, and sleeves
Premium adds 40 objects (UI elements, star, money, key, card, iPhone, iPad, drink cup, etc.), 22 accessories (smart/classic watches, wristbands, rings, bracelets, bandage, etc.), and 19 sleeves (suit, jumper, military, leather, rocker, chef, biologist, tattooed, etc.). These are separate assets you combine with a hand, which is where the "millions of combinations" figure comes from.
Source files and editing
Only Premium includes the source Blender files. With those, you can open the models in Blender, change colors, adjust materials, and build your own combinations. The free version gives you rendered PNGs only, so customization is limited to picking among the provided files.
How to actually customize a hand
- Get the Premium pack — the source
.blendfiles are the prerequisite for any real editing. - Open the file in Blender — use the included Blender beginner tutorial if you're new to it.
- Pick a base hand — choose from the 23 rigged models (human, chibi, creature, etc.).
- Apply a pose — select from the 76 poses, or pose the rig yourself.
- Set skin color/material — change the material color to any tone or stylized color you need.
- Add objects, accessories, and sleeves — combine from the 40 objects, 22 accessories, and 19 sleeves.
- Render/export — output PNGs for use in marketing, games, or app UI.
Expected result: a custom hand image or asset matching your brand's skin tone, pose, and props. Common snag: if you only have the free version, steps 3–6 aren't available — you're limited to the 900 pre-rendered PNGs.

When this level of customization matters
Choose Premium if you need consistent, on-brand hands across many mockups, want to match specific skin tones, or need creature/robot hands for games and apps. Choose Free if you just need a handful of ready-made hand PNGs for a quick design and don't need to edit anything. The deciding factor is the source files: without them, "customization" means choosing from what's provided, not changing it.
